The Spin Move

Is that that imfamous "Euro Step"?

That would it. The only thing that's different about it is the last step goes to the side rather than straight forward.

Clyde, I don't think the Euro step shown is illegal at all. As I said before nice move! I can think of a youngster I wish could perfect that... a la Rajon Rondo! :thumb:

I agree. Legal.

What about this one?

Travel.

Travel.

As I thought. That tied the game with 30 seconds in triple OT.

I've rarely seen it called. It happens so quickly that it's hard sometimes for your brain to process.

I understand the logic of calling this a travelling violation, but players have been making this move since Earl the Pearl Monroe was in his prime. As is often the case, I suppose this is one of those infamous "points of emphasis" going into this season. Was it a state-wide, nation-wide or association-wide directive to clean up this "move"? It certainly has not been called consistently among the officials I have seen this year...meaning some officials DO make the call consistently, and some NEVER make the call at all. I guess if you have a player who has this as a favorite move, he may get by with it five games in a row, but may get called for travelling every time he does it the next night.

9/10 times that's going to be a no call.

In the video I think the move from 1:00 to 1:05 was legal, but the video states otherwise. It may be a travel by rule, but again, one that goes uncalled most of the time. As for the last one I think the ref called a travel because he might have seen a step right before the European 2-step move.

It's not legal and the referee called a travel on the play.

I know this is talk about the spin move but IMO the Euro step when done correctly is not a traveling violation. When someone adds in an extra step it is an easy call but two steps are two steps regardles of direction.

Beside the bolded part is where I stated that it may be a travel by rule, but it's one that goes uncalled most of the time.

Yes, that's true and I think there may have been a debatable step right before the Euro step on that last play, which is why it may have been called.
