Highlands gets to avoid NewCath, Boone, St. Henry & Cov Cath. They could face Holmes, Ryle, or Dixie.

No... I'm not obsessive compulsive....

I believe the point was that Ryle and Holmes both lost to NCC and that HHS is playing pretty well right now, particularly with Stewart being back. I think HHS is a different team than when they played those 3 during the regular season. Should be a great match-up, regardless of who it is. Hopefully they take the Birds lightly...Should they do that, they will be in for a BIG surprise! Should be fun. Good luck Birds!!

Granted it was his 3rd or 4th game back, Holmes beat Highlands WITH Stew by 16.

His game was nowhere near where it is now. Plus Crowley was 2-15 that night at Holmes. I think its a whole different game this time if they face off. NCC beat the Dogs twice correct?

Great game by Highlands. Wow! I was impressed and pumped to see the guys play with so mouch passion last night(both teams). Congrats to NewCath as Hightchew was incredible for a such a young kid. He literally took control of the game and NC rode him to victory.

Conor Crowley was on fire and Highlands quit going to him the second half after NC put Hightchew on him. I still think Flynn should have taken a timeout on last possesion of regualation and setup one last shot and not give NC a chance to convert. When a team is trying to upset the big dog you never give him another chance. JMO. Perhaps this was instructed to the kids by the coaches and they just got excited and shot too early. Dont know but Highlands had a timeout left, why not take it.

They got a good look with Stewart facing Geisler 15 feet from the goal and Jack probably felt no better time then 14 sec to attack and he drew the 2 shot foul. I do agree though you should play for the last shot and calling a timeout could have set up a similar scenario but at maybe 3 sec instead of 14. Stewart normally is nails from the stripe. Still I thought the shot Ryan hit with 2.5 was all luck. Not the shot per se because he can stroke it but the fact that Hightchew's errant pass ended up near him where he could gather the ball that was clearly going out of bounds, then convert the big shot. Right place at the right time I guess. But then Stewarts heroics at the end was awesome as well.

I still am trying to figure out why NCC gets the Jordan treatment as a whole. Only 4 fouls calledo against them in the entire final 19 minutes of play and 11 whistled against Highlands. That play at the end where Geisler got the ball in the lane, was triple teamed, shuffled his feet, triple pumped and then threw his body into the Highlands defender was the worst bail out I have seen in quite some time. They should have called 3 sec or at the least a NO CALL. Chappie called a nice game but the other 2 were not so good. Another example is Birds up 36-29 as first half clock winds down and Dean gets the steal in backcourt takes it strong and is murdered as time expires and no call. Lol

He should have been on the line with a chance to extend the halftime lead to 9.

Just little things like those can keep a team around and give them slight momentum.

Classic high school basketball. Kentucky high school basketball in an intimate setting. Does NOT get any better in sports competition..so close u can feel the emotion - see it on their faces - feel it in their bodies...i was shaking watching the entire battle. Kentucky high school basketball - Kentucky basketball..it's what the commonwealth does. I know folks say Highlands is a football school...sure whatever -FOLKS we are in KENTUCKY. Kentucky football - is an oxymoron. If a trailer moved Highlands a mile across the big mac bridge - we would NOT be considered a "football school". Sure - great program - great coaching - great kids - great work ethic...it's amazing what Dale is doing up there - and they compete in Kentucky. Its the commonwealth. We do BASKETBALL- and last night was why everyone loves the game of basketball...the proximity to the players...the way those kids, coaches and fans - were so passionate...leaving everything out there. There's nothing "wrong" with Highlands baskeball...thats ridiculous. It's the 9th Region and Kentucky - and that school and hoops program simply doesn't have the sprinkling of zip code players- it had in the eighties...that is required iin any sport at any high level. A diversity of zip codes. HHS is 40175 - exclusively right now. No other high level program - in any sport - has one exclusive zip code...it just takes the best athlete from a sprinkling of communities - not one. Nothing wrong with HHS hoops - or the great sport of high school basketballl - please - these are All great kids - great families and great hoops - all across the 9th Region and great commonwealth of KY. I'm still shaking from last night's performance and energy in that beautiful Bellevue gym... Congratulations to all constituents involved in last night's District final - NCC is a wonderful program and coaching staff and fans - and so is HHS - and the rest of the great teams competing next week at NKU and good luck to all the team's and boys pursuing - a lifetime of memories - a 9th Region championship and a trip to RUPP ARENA - KY BASKETBALL - the greatest show on earth!!!

I agree with Q's analysis about the call late. Should have been a no call. Btw, Patrick Towles did an incredible job defending Jake Geisler all night. And what a pass from Towles to Big Jack to put the game into OT (shades of an NCAA tourney game in the early 1990s). Congrats to Ncc and the esp the Highcew kid - wow, tremendous effort. I'm sure the Birds are dissappointed as this game was winnable. And looking at the Regional draws one would want to play St. Henry vs. Dixie (understatement).

But like Ric Flair says......"To be the man you gotta beat the man" Right now Dixie is "the Man".

Great First Post TommyB !!! I agree wholeheartedly. I know many of the NCC families as my son has played AAU ball with those kids and they are great people. I was the first to congratulate them last night and the job that they do with those boys is phenomenal. Just as the job the Highlands parents do is outstanding. Great atmosphere and great performances by all of the kids. Kudos to NCC and best of luck to both teams.

How do you not know Brady Hightchew is a Junior and not a Sr? Where was Ryan Ernst last night? lol

...or that 36-29 is not a 6 point lead.

I would be glad not to see him for another bball season lol. Hightchew was the man and just played a fantastic game. I thought HHS had some very good offensive sets. Second year in a row that a NC guard came up big against HHS in districts. Good luck to both teams and it was a fantastic game if you missed it!

Awesome, i didnt even catch that. Maybe I should have submitted a nice summary for the papers and more accurate information. LOL
