Sticklen makes two free throws with 3.3 left to seal the deal for Bracken Co. First District Title since 1996.

Congratulations to Coach Patrick.Kelsch!!!

Another big night for the Lady Bears program.

Last year 10th Region "A" Champs and this year 39th District Champs.

Patrick is getting a lot of practice at this cutting the nets down thing. Couldn' t be happier for he or his program.

Hard work and perseverance does indeed pay off.

Great game tonight. Tough to see either team lose. Congrats to Bracken Co and Coach Patrick Kelsch! First District Title ever in the 39th District and first overrall district title since '96.

Saint Patrick should hold their heads high they gave it everything they had!

Gonna be an interesting Region next week. Tough draw for winners and losers.

37th-Campbell Champs, Brossart runner up

38th Harrison Co Champs, Pend Co runner up

39th Bracken CO Champs, St Pat runner up

40th GRC champs, Mont Co runner up.

Congrats to the Lady Bears!

The call with 3 or 4 seconds left sure was a tough one for the Lady Saints.

Well said Coach K is a class act!

Very sloppy game to watch from an offensive perspective. Defense, on the other hand, was pretty solid by both teams. Thought St. Pat had an excellent game plan to shut down Sticklen and executed it quite well throughout.

Bracken's Jordan Wills was the game's MVP in my opinion. She stuffed the stat sheet & made numerous hustle plays. Emma Conley played well too, shooting 4-10 from the 3-point line. And of course, Sticklen, who struggled from the free throw line most of the night, made them when they most mattered.

Speaking of the last play, it was tough. Talked to people who sat in different spots. One said it was a horrible call. Another said the call was right-on. Others said it should have been a no-call. From where I was sitting, it looked like there wasn't much contact. Either way it's a moot point, as my opinion doesn't matter.

An exciting game to watch by two teams who left it all on the court. Can't ask for much else. Congrats to both teams & best of luck next week!

I heard it was a bogus call at the end of the game that should have been called a walk. It sounded on the radio like a very exciting game, one of those games where its a shame that one side had to lose.

Congrats to Patrick Kelsch and his Lady Bears. I really thought that St. Patrick should have given Hamilton more looks on the inside. Wills was the difference maker for Bracken, much focus was on Sticklen and credit St. Patricks defense for slowing her down throughout the night but Wills was the one that made the hustle plays to grab numerous loose balls, hit some timely 15 footers, and the freshman steps to the line in a crucial situation and knocks down free throws. Bracken made the free throws in the end and for a team as young as the Lady Bears I think that is outstanding. I think they had 1 junior and 4 freshman on the floor at the end. Congrats and good luck. One thing is for certain, BC will not get Clark County in the 1st round next week, I think its wide open outside of GRC and who knows what can happen in 1 game.

You can't make that call at that time unless it was basically a mugging(which it wasn't)let the girls decide it in overtime. Though can't argue with PK's success as a Coach, sure wish he would let Sara be the primary ball handler or the PG all the time and switch Emma to the 2'. Really think that young lady can be high Division 1 if used right, not down in the paint and the team would still win and be good. Just don't want her to end up at Pikeville or Cumberland or one of those colleges.

I always say you just call the game as you see it, regardless of how much time. If someone fouls in the late seconds, I don't care how "light" a foul it is, you call it. Having said that, I didn't see any contact from where I was sitting, but others have told me there definitely was. Either way, a moot point.

Sara has been running the point most of the time lately, except when teams are in a zone, which is what St. Patrick was playing the other night. The new offense, which they ran repeatedly vs. Mason County, features her at the point. But when the defense is in a zone, ala St. Pat, she goes in the paint.

Your comments on Sara being a Division 1 caliber player have drawn some kind of reaction in the St. Patrick Facebook community. Something tells me that Sara's college bread will be buttered by softball anyway. She could do either sport, and do it well IMO. But that will be a decision for her to make.

Agreeing with me, no doubt:lol:
