2006 Pike County Bowl any news yet?

:scared: OMG!!! :creepy:

I hope someone at CTB gets canned over this. :fire:

I can address some of the things on this thread from a pretty good position within the program:

"...but Pikeville and the W-T will not have enough to be in this game."

Pikeville STARTED the season last year in the "traditional Wing-T." This was necessary to teach all 55 kids in the program a "base" system. From there, it became a "No-Huddle, Shotgun Spread" offense -- looks much more like WEST VIRGINIA U's current offense than the old Delaware Wing-T.

"There are alot of good kids at PHS. I only wish some of them were 6'5 and 285 lbs. LOL"

This is right on... Nonetheless, there's a way to win with kids that are NOT 6'5, 285. It won't be what those that remember "the good old days" want to see (unless we DO start somehow getting that-sized kids again -- OR when other teams we play do as little in the weight room as most other teams did back then). But that's okay; Oklahoma did pretty well when they finally realized they had to go away from "old-school wishbone" too!

"I hear Henry Clay. OMG!!!

Not me. You've got to play the best to ever hope to beat the best. We were NOT ready to beat a team like NCC last year in the first game of the season, but if we'd played someone we WERE ready to beat, we'd have known LESS about what we needed to improve. The best we ever got at my old school was when we started the season with LOSSES to teams like St. X and Male. Until "computer-rankings" determine who makes the playoffs in Ky., it's not how you do at the BEGINNING that matters; just how much better you are at the end. And regardless of the outcome of the last game, I doubt there is anybody who saw PHS at the beginning and end that could say we weren't a LOT better at the end.

Had to delete a post because I just read a couple things in my PM box that made me see things in a whole new light! :ylsuper:

It appears to me that all you want to do is disrespect Pikeville and their system. If you don't like it, don't come watch. We'll get over it. :D

Let's just say now that I have the "inside info" on why they run the system they do you won't here me voice my thoughts on the W.T. and Pikeville any more.

Sorry you yake the posting of someone you don't know so seriously.

Thanks.

Respect is something earned not given for free, and mine you now have.

If NCC loses some of their studs, I think Belfry should match up pretty well with them. I hope this is the lineup (at least for Belfry).

Pikeville was just young last year, had a new coach and system and suffered growing pains! It would have been the same no matter what you ran on offense. Coach Jackson is a proven winner! Give the man a chance to build his program!

I think Pikeville was to tricky and didnt just line up and play football last year. I also feel that a system wother than wing T would have showed their atheletes off better such as Huffman and Robinson. I think they would have been more suited to open it up a little bit. Chase seemed to struggle grasping the wing-T also it is a very complex offense.

As far as the matchups goes HC should loose a bit but still they are just huge. Belfry and NCC that will be a game I believe Belfry will be pretty good next year.

I too thought this but after getting some solid info I now understand why they done things the way they did.

Henry Clay will be a tough matchup for Pikeville to start the season. I would like to see the Panthers play a good mountain school in the PCB: Middlesboro, Corbin, Somerset, Sheldon Clark. Playing a tough 4A school though like HC can teach the Panthers a lot even with a loss.

I don't see what Henry Clay gets from playing such a small school.

So I'm taking it the Pike County match-ups are

Belfry vs. Newport C.C.

Pikeville VS. hENRY cLAY

Along with the four other local teams playing each other?

If so I will need to find another bowl game that has two games on Friday or Two on Saturday.

I don't know if those are the matchups or not but from what I have read/heard it appears that they may be. The Belfry-NCC game would be a great game.

I agree that game would/should be a good one, but the other three doesn't seem like it would be worth a five plus hour drive.

I agree with all of this post. I also hear the guys are working hard. I don't want to be a complainer but I'm still a die-hard who thinks the Panthers should win the region every year and make a serious run for all the marbles. I'm sure everyone is working hard to get back to that point. There is tons of talent at PHS and hopefully we are back on top soon. Also, the JH team did get a late start with equipment snafus and all, and were the best team around at the end of the year IMO...the future should be very bright. :thumb:

At the end of the year the Jr high team team couldve beaten most JV teams in the area IMO. I thought they had a good power running game. By the time these kids are jrs and srs WATCH OUT! :ylsuper:
