Maybe that's because Bush knew we were in the wrong place fighting the wrong war looking for the wrong people so the guilt was eating him up.

Nope. Saying his guilt level will be considerably less than that of George Bush's. Which could be why it is harder for Bush. Who knows? Pure speculation on my part. My personal opinion is that Bush regrets going to war in Iraq.

 

It's always the little things in life that we take for granted until they are gone. Even after the grieving over a fallen soldier is done he still can't do things like a non POTUS can which is the price you pay when you run for public office especially that of POTUS. I think he was trying to personalize the office with his answer and it didn't work for you.

Except that Bush said died in action, not died in Iraq.

 

And it is no secret that a majority of the soldiers that died during Bush's time in office were soldiers in Iraq so I think it is safe to say Iraq but for technical purposes we can use in action. That's fine. I still feel that the war in Iraq was a mistake.

I actually agree with you. I can admit I can be close minded on some things(like the War in Iraq) but I generally try to be open minded in most discussions. I very rarely post in this forum because it usually seems like two rams head butting each other in most threads and my political intellect is average at best. I missed this interview the other day so I figured I check out the thread and see how it went and decided to make a post or two.

I should add that I respect Pres. Obama's answer that going out & getting a cheeseburger can be a hassle. With my diet, that's something I need to know before running for President. But what about Chipotle?

The interviewer can control the interview, but he should at least show some respect. My biggest problem with O'Reilly was his snide comments while President Obama was answering his question.

He was no different when he interviewed Bush, I didn't think he was disrespectful at all.

Agreed. O'Reilly interviews everyone like this, though I've seen him not be as aggressive with women (Hillary, Palin). If memory serves me right, he really went after John McCain on the waterboarding/torture deal. I think most who object to his Obama interview just haven't seen him. Perhaps there are a minority who have seen him frequently & just disapprove of the style. But to pretend he doesn't always do this is pretty ridiculous. In fact, I thought he showed much more aggression in Obama's 2008 election season interview.

 

And I really think interviewing with O'Reilly does Obama some good, because he's not getting the usual softball questions. Barry has twice now handled himself very well with O'Reilly.
