OK you caught me, I was out of town. However, I was able to get there just before dinner. It was really a nice night. Sorry I didn't get to see the player awards handed out but I did get to see the coaches get their kudos from the players. That was very entertaining.:lol:

Man, this is a tough crowd. We show up late for a Highlands banquet and people think it's a fair question to ask why! For those who think they have a right to know (and you don't) why Henry and I were late for the banquet, we were secretly reconnoitering some other banquets going on that day. Don't folks have better things to worry about, like making their own banquets and their own football teams more successful? :madman:

 

Geez Henry, I guess we better not be late next year or else we will really be in trouble. Heck, they may revoke our super secret passes for our press box seats.

I was just getting ready to post how HHS' banquet is unique and you provided perfect support. It's my guess that not many/any other schools have parents of former players show up for the football banquet. It's one of the many things that makes Ft Thomas Highlands football what it is.

Henry and I have been going to the banquets for quite some time. Started before we had kids on the team and Lord willing are going to keep attending them for a long time. It really is a blast watching the kids, the coaches and the parents of the seniors. It can be pretty emotional for those parents because they realize "it's over". We had just rolled back into town at about 6 PM after a 6 hr drive back from WV. Walked into the house and Henry said: "Don't sit down, we're headed to the banquet." So off we went. We missed a fair amount of the banquet, but was glad I had one last opportunity to see the seniors as members of the football team. Now those kids are part of a special group called: Former Highlands football players. Big congrats to each of the seniors for their individual and collective accomplishments. As a former Highlands football player, I truly appreciate every thing they did over the prior 4 years to further the successes of my Alma Mater's football program. To them, a big thank you!

Those Srs definitely raised the bar with the 4 peat. Winning state is really all they know and that will be something those kids will always cherish. Hopefully they transition that success in life and achieve further greatness.
