Six Rooster players coached by Bobby Mullins recieved offers this weekend.

 

From what I have heard the players are:

Dylan Cottingham

Zach Larimore

Tyler Sexton

Brent Truitt

Dylan Embs

Ian Hehman

 

They all went on a road trip basically through Tennessee and Kentucky hitting colleges such as Columbia State, Martin Methodist, Lambuth University and Mid Continent University.

 

Mid Continent University offered all these players scholarships including 3 of the 6 getting basically full rides. Im sure a few more will recieve offers from the other colleges but from what I am told MCU was the only one to offer as of yet.

Cottingham was invited to Lambuth and Columbia State, so Coach Mullins made some phone calls and set it up for all the players could workout for the Schools. Coach Mullins has done alot for all of his players. Great job Coach.

I have been involved in recruiting or scouting in this area for over 30 years and have never heard of Mid Continent University. Where is it and what type of school is it? D3 or NAIA? Is it a new school? Have there been changes in the rules where this level ( non D1 ) schools can give athletic scholarships? Thanks

I believe it is in Mayfield Kentucky and is a NAIA school.

Mid Continent is in the transouth Conference along with Cumberland of Tennessee and Lee University two of the top NAIA Schools in Baseball.

Walrus no changes.............................DIII no scholarship ability.............Just Div I Div II and NAIA

If they are talking about a full ride it would potentially be a blended scholarship with academic money, endowments, etc. Pretty much guarantee that it is not full athletic scholarship. NAIA schools have a total of 12 scholarships available for baseball. Mid Continent currently has 40+ players on their roster. Full scholarships in baseball are a rarity at every level.

From what I have been told over the last 2 days, Sexton got the highest athletic offer. I dont know if this is true or not but it was said that he only has to pay $200 per year to play ball there.

Yes it is very true, that just Athletic money no academic money. It will be hard past up, that go for all of them.

Thanks. Wasn't aware schools of that size were able to give full rides to kids with the amount of players and the amount of funds they have to allocate.
