WVFranck, you are either in denial or living in a fairytale my friend. LOL.

You basically answered and confirmed everything that I said. I dont dislike Coach Fookes at all. I respect this legend for who she is and what she has accomplished in NKY. Hey, I am on her side believe it or not. I am just stating facts when it comes to NKY teams, whether its Girls BB, Football or Track. When NKY travels you have no chance unless of course you can dominate. Keep believing what you want, facts are facts, and Coach Fookes got tossed because, maybe just because she also knows how the odds are stacked against her team when she travels.

And the get offf the "kick" thingy, just having fun with the heel stomping antics that gets my attention when I watch her play, I mean watch BC play. LOL. Ease UP there Frankie, All in fun.

I hope it truly is all in fun because message boards can get way too edgy at times. It is tough to discern exactly what people are really saying and where they are going with their comments. Without "body language", and voice inflections, and all the other things that go with face-to-face communications, it is tough.

Your response here talks about all NKY teams out of area, which I personally don't believe either, but until this response you have had a total focus on Coach Fookes and Boone County girls basketball (on this particular subject).....and that only, thus my reponses. That is where my thought of you getting off the "kick" came from.

And I do understand the stomping thing and can see where those who don't really know Coach Fookes could get "stuck" on that aspect of her overall picture. Interesting story. When Sydney was still at Ryle, with no thought of going anywhere, much less Boone, we were watching a December tournament game at Boone County. Nell was being Nell! I hadn't seen that before and had what is probably most people's reaction. I turned to Syd and asked "Do you think you could play for her?" She smiled and responded "Sure I could play for her!" How true that has turned out to be!

Now that it is a reality I've gotten to see the complete Coach Fookes. I see an extremely intensive person who is always pushing her players to be the best they can be. She is tough on them......on the court. Off the court I see a person who loves her players like they were her own and wishes for them the best, sports or otherwise. She goes far beyond the "call of duty" to help her kids....be it regarding basketball, other sports, studies, home life, whatever. I'm totally sold on her and her approach, and I guess that's pretty obvious!

I'll be happy to entertain any "facts" you want to present in this discussion as it regards this big gap in officiating Boone County and Coach Fookes experience out of area (yeah I know you've now tried to switch it to all NKY teams but your purpose has been to indicate BC gets preferential treatment in the NKY area...........all one has to do is go back to your original post and the one in this thread). I've seen no facts from you so far.

I hardly think I'm in denial. I'm simply using what I've actually seen in watching 12 Boone County games outside of NKY, including two in Ohio (in addition to more than that last season). There certainly has been no difference in the way BC has played, and there has been no significant difference in the way the game has been officiated in terms of foul calls or anything else (with one glaring exception from last season....and those occur on occasion at every level). THAT is fact......and hardly a "fairytale"!

Again, I'll be happy to entertain your "facts" on the matter. All for the "fun" of it of course! :D

I have your back WVFrank...I'd be hard pressed to find any player that went through the pressure that my Daughter went through at BC, but to this day she calls Nell anytime she needs to "dump" or to just talk. And, when she gets the opportunity to come home she always spends time with her coach. She never fully understood why she was so hard on her in-and-out of the classroom until the time came to meet the rigors and demands of playing at the next level.

I was surprised to hear she got ejected. I've seen her get "T'd" a lot, but never ejected. But as soon as I heard the comments about concern for her players...I wasn't surprised. The "only" times I've seen her lose her mind was on cheap/dirty type plays.

Anything negative towards BC or Nell always brings the "haters" out of the woodworks. I have concerns about the game on Friday since it's at Ryle. If they lose, every Tom, Dick, and Harry will show up on this board starting from their Blackberry's in the gym. However, if Boone wins the BIG game at NKU...you'll hear Crickets on here ;)

Ya gotta have "super" thick skin to support this coach and her program :)

What's interesting is that I didn't think she was any more animated than normal when she got the second T. Sometimes you just get officials who are a bit more sensitive to being fussed at. When I officiated I worked a couple times (and that was a couple too many!) with a guy who handed out T's like they were going out of style. His ears were a little too large I guess. Officiating basketball is a tough, tough job and does get you a ton of complaints and criticisms, but you can't have rabbit ears.

I generally let coaches have a lot of leeway because I knew they were doing their job when they saw a play differently than I. But if they went a bit too far I'd warn them that was enough. Only if they pushed that did I hand out T's. Really didn't do that very often because I could usually get their attention without being on a power trip.

I don't know if I need thick skin or not but I do strongly support Coach Fookes because of what I see in her and her approach as good for the kids she coaches. That sometimes isn't the case with coaches I've seen.

I meant it as a general statement...it requires thick skin for anyone to support the LadyRebs and their coach ;)

Nell is praying that weather doesn't cancel the Holmes game this week.

Uh oh. Weather looking bad for the Boone/Holmes game?

This is getting very interesting!!! Who would have ever thought the weather could affect the outcome of a basketball game??????

The fact that we (or me) is interested in this shows how big the rivalry is. I wouldn't have this comment if it was any other team than Ryle. It just adds to the intrigue.

Crunch, you almost had me feeling sorry for the Boone County Coach and their program:) I jus want to beat Boone because I want my team to have the Sweet Sixteen experience your daughter got to enjoy. I don't know how the rest of the season is going to play out but I feel we are going to have to play Boone 3 times to get to Diddle.
This is getting very interesting!!! Who would have ever thought the weather could affect the outcome of a basketball game??????
It won't. Either way I don't think the coaches play the game.

IMO, the outcome of a basketball game is definitely affected by the coaches. Hopefully the weather doesn't have a bearing on the schedule for any of the teams for the rest of the week. So this will become a moot point.

I was sorta thinking the same thing. Kick, kick, kick!!!!! LOL.

Fortunately Boone has a game with Holmes this week prior to the Ryle game. Otherwise, we wouldn't see Nell.

It is an automatic 2 game suspension, so what games will Coach Fookes miss?

Is that two games in addition to the game she was tossed? Seems harsh. Can she pick the games or are the next two?

Next two. You cannot pick games you are suspended for. Looks like she may be out for Friday night. Too bad

Is she allowed to attend the games?
