George Rogers Clark 79 Scott County 62

Featured Replies

It appeared to me that the refs tightened down on Scott counties physical play when they turned up the pressure in the third quarter. They did not allow the "extra " contact that goes uncalled by a lot of officials. Probably the best game GRC has played so far this year as far as start to finish. If Humphrey can get them to peak in March watch out, it could be a special year for Clark County Basketball!:ylsuper:

Congrats to the GRC Cards on the big W.

I think at the beginning of the season, this is the type of performance that we all expected to see out of this bunch. Good to see the boys putting it together.

Scott Co is a very good team which makes this win even more impressive.

No. 7 Clark County boys outduel No. 4 Scott County 79-62

WINCHESTER — Clark County boys' basketball coach Scott Humphrey is brutally honest in evaluating his team, which has come up short in its quest for a 10th Region title the last couple of years.

Nobody questions the Cardinals' talent, experience or effort, but Humphrey said they still must prove themselves in big games.

Saturday night, they did.

Led by Corey Rogers' 29 points, No. 7 Clark County ripped No. 4 Scott County 79-62 in a near-full Letcher Norton Gym.

"It's time for us to put up or shut up," Humphrey said. "We've been around forever. It's time for us to win."

Clark County did that in emphatic fashion in ending Scott County's 12-game winning streak.

"Against Clark you can't come down and get shots any time you want," Hicks said. "You've gotta work for them."

Scott County played catchup all night, trailing by double digits most of the time.

Fastbreak, so glad to meet you tonight.
Goldie, I can honestly say, the highlight of my evening was finally getting to meet you face-to-face. GRC is very fortunate to have you as their #1 fan.

GRC is the real deal. They have the size, talent and depth to be playing on the final Saturday in March. :thumb:

So glad to meet you and your family. It was a true pleasure.

Agree that we have all the tools this year. This team is on a mission, just have to say focused, and come with the same intensity that we played with last night.

How many teams can bring off the bench a 6'7 player that started last year. Daniels had 19 last night...off the bench. He would start at most schools...very athletic.

EKU's football staff was there to watch Cory Rogers last night. I know they have offered him a scholly. Cory had 29 points last night and 14 boards. To my knowledge this year he is GRC's leading scorer and not going to College on a basketball scholly. Who know he could play both IMO at the right school.

GRC has 3 games this week. Tuesday Harrison Co, Friday Montgomery Co and Saturday #12 ranked Warren Central.

Someone made a mistake in keeping the score for Clark Co, Purvis had 3 points and Rogers had 27.

Watched the replay and listened to Coach Hicks on the post game show. He stated that he made a very stupid coaching mistake.....scheduling GRC at Winchester this year. Scott Co played GRC in Winchester last year. I suppose that with GRC being in the Toyota Classic this year these arrangement were made. Home court...does make a difference.

*Another note- GRC honored Cory Rogers for scoring his 1000 point while at the beachball classic. GRC now has 3 seniors that have scored 1000 + points. Zollo and Robbie Stenzel are the other two. Don't know if I have ever heard of 3 players in the same class and same team that have reached that mark. Anyone know of any others?

^That has happened in girls basketball, with Chambers, Cline, and Litzinger from Mason County. That one has been well documented as that trio never made it to the state tournament. Something like 7000 points between the 3 players.

Didn't Paula Buser coach that group?

Why yes I believe it was a Buser that led this group.
