2011 All "A" State Tournament Brackets

 

Of local interest, the 9th Region (NCC, Holy Cross) will take on Region 3 (Owensboro Catholic) on Thursday, February 3rd at 1pm in the final game of the upper bracket.

 

Region 10 (Augusta, Brossart, Bracken County, Deming) takes on Region 16 (Elliot County, Fairview, West Carter) in the nitecap at 9:30pm to round out the bottom bracket.

 

The 8th Region gets Region 15 at 8pm

Should be a pretty good matchup for both Regions. Elliot Co obviously has Div 1 Timmy Knipp and West Carter is also an excellent team who could win that Region with team play. NCC should be the favorite in the 9th, nobody in Class A will be able to stop Geisler in the 9th Region. Beechwood could possibly be in the running also and may be the only team that could matchup with NCC. Brossart should be the favorite in the 10th but with Augusta playing well and the King brothers in Deming you just never know.

Which is a huge advantage for the Breds. I will go ahead and pick them to win the 9th.

Newcath will be the overwhelming favorite. Brady Hightchew is too quick for any other guard in the 9th All A and Jake Geisler will have his way down low with anyone in the field.

Over in the 8th Region it's a 3 team race between Walton, Gallatin County and Owen County. Walton plays Gallatin in the first round and the winner plays Owen.

 

Tough bracket, Owen with close wins over both WV and Gallatin. Tournament at OC so that gives them an edge but I really like what coach Trame has over in WV.

Walton was without McNeil vs Owen. McNeil would have made a big difference!
