Sportsfan25
I was watching insight channel 6 today. They showed a stat. Since 1987 there has been a Nky Class A and Class AAA semi finalist ever year since then. That is one amazing stat.
Sportsfan25
Hopefully New Cath and Highlands can keep this streak alive. I'm pretty sure at least one Nky team has been in the finals for 24 or 25 straight years. I would think if one of both of these teams win they will keep that streak alive as well. The Scribe
Do you mean A and AAA both in the same year or in each class?
Sportsfan25
Do you mean A and AAA both in the same year or in each class? The same year. Maybe I should explain it more. Since 1987 a Nky Class A and Nky Class AAA team has been in the semi finals during the same year.
The Scribe
Bell County won the 3A region in 1990, along with Ashland. That's why I asked.
Sportsfan25
Bell County won the 3A region in 1990, along with Ashland. That's why I asked. I understand that. But it said that Nky was in the semi finals in both classes since 87. I don't know anything about 3A back then but I know that Pikeville beat Beechwood in the 87 semis. Your right I was just looking at a state football program. I looked up 90 in AAA. Cov Cath got beat by Bell County the week before. Either way it is an amazing stat. The Scribe
A northern Kentucky team has been in at least one final four (regardless of class) every year back to 1973.
colonel-fan
Bell County won the 3A region in 1990, along with Ashland. That's why I asked. Yep, Bell beat CovCath in OT on Log Mountain in the quarterfinals. Bell then went to Ashland and lost to Juan Thomas and the Tomcats, who went on to win the state title. RiceMountJoy
since 1987 the Danville Admirals have been to the state semi final game 15 times. What do you think about that?
Hatz
since 1987 the Danville Admirals have been to the state semi final game 15 times. What do you think about that? You can also add they've been there 17 times since 1984. :thumb: 1984 AAA State Champs 1985 AAA Regional Finalist 1986 AAA Semi-Finals 1987 AA Champs 1988 AA Semi-Finals 1989 AA Champs 1990 AA Regional Finalist 1991 AA Champs 1992 AA Champs 1993 AA Semi-Finals 1994 AA Champs 1995 AA Regional Finalists 1996 AA 2nd Round 1997 AA Second Round 1998 AA Finalist 1999 A Regional Finalist 2000 A Champs 2001 A Champs 2002 A Semi-Finalist 2003 A Champs 2004 A Finalist I just thought that was pretty impressive, maybe even more so than the stat mentioned at the start of the thread. Italian Stallion
The NKY powerhouses seem to be in A and AAA.
Buffalo Gap
This, in my opinion is amazing. In the Danville area, since 1987, a Danville, Boyle County, Lincoln County and/or a Harrodsburg team has either played for a state championship and/or at least been in a state semi-final game every year. We're talking about four relatively small communites (small in regards of the Louisville, Lexington, Covington/N KY, Owensboro, etc) all within 20 miles of the other. Stanford (Lincoln County HS) population of maybe 3,000. Danville (Danville HS, Boyle Co. HS) around 15,000 Harrodsburg (H'burg HS) population around 5,000. For the past 18 years this area has had a team playing Thanksgiving weekend and usually for state-championship. 1987-Danville, Class AAA Champs 1988-Danville and Lincoln Co., Class AA and AAA semi-finals. 1989-Danville, Class AA Champs 1990-Lincoln Co., Class AAA Runner-Up 1991-Danville, Class AA Champs 1992-Danville, Class AA Champs 1993-Lincoln Co., Class AAA Runner-up 1994-Danville, Class AA Champs 1995-Danville, Class AA Semi-finals. 1996-Harrodsburg, Class A Runner-Up 1997-Harrodsburg, Class A Runner-Up 1998-Danville, Class AA Runner-Up 1999-Boyle Co., Class AA Champs 2000- Danville and Boyle CO, Class A and AA Champs 2001-Danville and Boyle Co., Class A and AAA champs 2002-Boyle County AAA Champs 2003-Danville, Boyle Co., Class A and AAA Champs 2004-Danville, Boyle Co., Class A and AAA Runners-Up *I'm almost positive that I've left a H'burg team out somewhere in one or maybe a couple of these years.
