Religion is the first thing that comes to mind. Followed quickly by corruption and hypocrisy.

That would be the imperfect humans that follow him.

No doubt. But the question was, what's the first thing that comes to mind when you hear Jesus' name. To me, that's religion. When I think of religion, the first thing that comes to mind is the incredible amount of corruption and hypocrisy that organized religions have. It's sad, but the unfortunate truth.

O, I understand but I also honestly believe that is the minority.

Do you judge all of athletes as murderers based on the actions of the athletes who have murdered?

For every negative action that you least there are dozens of positive actions that are not publicized or promoted.

I fully believe that one of Satan's best and most successful actions has been using the Church to make the Church itself look bad. Not all who claim to be followers of Christ are true followers of Christ.

The Bible warns us to be wary of those speaking of Christ but are in essence anti-Christ.

It's not the individuals I'm talking about though. Most religions (more than likely all) are hypocritical in many of their beliefs and values. It's the institutions as a whole, not the members that I'm speaking of.

Couldn't agree more.

Sounds like a good thread to start and list which hypocritical stances that you are discussing.

Wouldn't be proper to threadjack here and go into it.

Thomas, who I asked about earlier was the Disciple who wasn't with the others when Jesus first showed himself to them. he didn't believe them that Jesus was there, "I need to be able to put my fingers into the nail holes and my hand into his side , then I'll believe he has risen".

Later Jesus showed up and went to Thomas and said ..."put your fingers here and your hand there". Thomas was with Jesus for three years, he walked with him, saw his work, witnessed his miracles, yet he still didn't believe. He had to have Jesus approach him, and thats sad on his part.

We as Christians don't get to walk with Jesus, but we believe and don't need to put our fingers anywhere.

"...loves me, this I know."

Savior and Salvation

One thing not mentioned is that when Jesus comes back, it won't be the nice little Jesus that so many incompletely promote Him. He comes back as ready to Judge us for our sins and whether we have asked him to be the Savior from our sins. I hope all that reads this gives their life to Christ and finds their name written in the Book of the Lamb.

Thats right^^^^^, "every knee will bow, every tongue will confess Jesus is LORD". Doesn't say "some". I've shared this verse more than any other on BGPs.

So you're saying Tim Tebow isn't the 2nd coming? :D

I don't know. Has anyone ever seen him riding the clouds on a white horse? :D
