Could have been starting at UK and improved his draft stock while having a legit shot at going to a final 4 or winning a championship. Instead he listened to fans criticize him and was too much of a baby to dust his shoulders off and move on.

He got drafted in the 1st round & is now sitting on a guaranteed contract that will pay him plenty of money over the next 3 years or so. When you consider his prior injury history, the decision became even easier to make. This injury just confirms that DO made the decision that was best for HIM, not me, you & the rest of Kentucky fans.

He would have been a lock for a lottery pick, and it's not guaranteed, but he may not have another knee injury had he decided to stay. Cousins makes around 3.5 million a year. Orton makes 1.3 million and is only under contract for the first 3 years. He stays another year and he potentially makes up for the money lost, barring a lockout. If there is no lockout issue, I say it was the wrong decision.

If there is no lockout issue, I say it was the wrong decision. 1. A lockout is looming. 2. Orton was chosen in the 1st round & there was some speculation that he would go even earlier than he did. 3. Orton had suffered a knee injury in high school that cost him his senior season. 4. Had Orton returned to school, he would risk further injury to that knee & a knee injury would be more likely to end his career. 5. Had Orton returned to school, his flaws would have been exposed. It's not a given that his stock would have risen. 6. Had he returned to school, he would have been part of a "reloading" process since we brought in a ton of new frosh & basically all of his fellow classmates left for the NBA.

I know, I mentioned that. 2. His draft stock dropped due to extreme amounts of goaltending. 3. UK has great knee surgeons. 4. Again, UK has great knee surgeons. 5. As many flaws as he may have had, he still would have been a lottery pick. 6. He would have started. Who cares if they're reloading?
December 6, 201015 yr If he would've come back and injured his knee again, there was an extremely high likelihood he was done for good. Orton without question made the right decision, this injury only further proves that. It's very easy as a UK fan to sit around and hate on the kid for ruining your hopes of a possible national championship, but he made the intelligent decision for him and his family and there's no reason for anyone to criticize him for that.

How many of you (us) will ever make $1.3 in your lifetime?
