This Newcath squad is on a mission and should move on to the state championship.

 

Their ball control offense and run game will be the difference. They'll use multiple weapons (Hayes, Cain, Hightchew, Kelly) to keep the Redhound defense from keying on Kelly and mix in a play action pass here and there for long gains. Newcath's offense is extremely hard to game plan for because they use so many different kids offensively.

 

On the offensive line, this will be the biggest unit Corbin has seen this year. They go 6'7 245 and 6'10 330 on the left side....did I mention they're both very physical and strong? The right side doesn't get much publicity but they were creating holes that you could drivea Mack truck through last week against Holy Cross. Ball carriers to that side weren't being touched until they were 5 yards down the field.

 

One area that Newcath is very good in as well is blocking outside. Their receivers (Daunt, Bhola, and Doyle) are all three big and very strong receivers. All three have good size going about 6'1 and having some size to them.

 

Defensively, Newcath hits as hard as they come, especially Kelly and Cain. The Newcath D-ends are very good and strong with Logan Martin and Jake Geisler (6'7 245). If Corbin is going to have any luck running the ball it's going to have to be outside. Inside the tackles they'll have nothing.

 

I expect a good game but in the end, Newcath will be too much.

Wouldn't put much stock in this. Newcath's opponents have scored a lot of points on second teamers in blow outs. Christian Academy-Louisville got two of their td's like that.

Its hard to beat anyone 3 years in a row. I'll take the Redhounds with the upset 28 to 21.

I stand corrected, Corbin lost to Pburg last year.

Corbin has a slight advantage when it comes to speed but the size difference will be evident when they come face to face. The only thing that will slow down NCC on offense is turnovers. Corbin will need to make the most of all their possessions otherwise it will be a long night.

Don't rule out Corbin possibly having a strength advantage despite not being quite as big. Also, I will be very impressed if NCC is actually more physical than Corbin.

The one thing that NewCath has going for it is that it has played Ryle earlier in the year. That is a very physical team, with a very, very good running back. If they had not played them, then I would say that Corbin's offense would be to their advantage, as every other team that they have played has run a version of the spread (w/ the exception of Beechwood, but they are not a power running team). I don't know if they are more physical than Corbin, but I know that this is about as physical a NewCath team as I have seen, and supremely talented one on the lines.

NewCath from everything I heard is a machine. I have no doubt that they are a physical team. With the size of those hosscats, I would not doubt a bit them being physical. The thing about Corbin this year is that they are a very hard hitting team, punish you on the line but they don't have the typical back that will pound you for extra yards. Corbin uses more of a quick running attack this year but they have been getting some very good downfield blocking. The Corbin O Line will have their work cut out for them for sure on Friday. I do love how the Redhound D has been playing and last week was icing on the cake. It's a fun D to watch fly around. Those kids love to hit. Can't wait til Friday! I am pulling for the Redhounds in this one but I think that NCC will win this one.

It's always fun to go to Corbin. Their fans always treat us fine and we enjoy coming. May both teams have an injury free game.

I took one of my sons ion the sideline Friday night. His reaction to seeing Jack in person was awesome. Jack is someone who he's persevered. He has fought through injuries to his feet and gone from being a lineman who stood out for being 6'10 to being a standout lineman who happens to be 6'10. He has improved dramatically now he has to bring it each play
