November 16, 201015 yr Possibly, but neither TCU or Boise have the depth to play LSU's schedule and only lose by one score to Auburn. How could you possibly know that? Bose has beaten just about anyone and everyone they have played. Going off of their past I think they'd have a real shot to win the SEC this year or atleast have the same record as LSU does given their schedule. LSU has no offense, though I believe their defense is the best in the country.

When has Boise ever had to prepare for elite talent on a weekly basis like the LSU's, Auburn's, Bama's, etc. do? That's where they'd get owned IMO. No one is disputing that in a one game, winner take all scenario given a month+ to prepare Boise can play with any team. But to have to play an extremely high level of competition week in, week out, would doom them. They don't have the depth to do it IMO.

Going off of the facts, Boise can play with anyone they have proven that. Maybe it's just because they get a month to prepare, but we cannot know that for certain. No team has unlimited depth. The talent they have shows since they go really deep into their bench, outside of Moore, Young and Pettis. Any team is going to be doomed if they lose a QB of Moore's caliber. I hate Boise State because I think they are whine too much about being the little guy, but they are always ready to play. I don't think Boise would go unbeaten in the ACC. It's an opinion. I'm not stating facts. I don't see a team in the ACC that would beat them outside of VT who had their chance. I love Miami but they would get their pants pulled down, everyone knows what I think about FSU, UNC is really depleted (I think they would have been a top 5 team this year with everyone though), NC State has won alot but have beaten no one, and let's not even get started on the GTs, Clemsons and teams like that. Of course that's just my opinion, but I don't see them with a single loss if they were in the ACC, or the Big 12, or especially Big East. They may have a loss or two in the Pac-10, SEC or Big 10 I won't debate that, but just about every team in those conferences has that if not more. Boise is in the position that so many up and coming teams have been in through the years. No one thought Miami, FSU, Penn State were that good when they were up and coming, but they proved them wrong. I don't see a reason to doubt them, other than the fact that their players were not as highly recruited as other teams.
November 17, 201015 yr Author I'm not about to give the Tigers a guaranteed win in Tuscaloosa. I agree, I believe that Bama will beat Auburn.

Boise imo is much deeper than people think. Besides, take the QB away from Auburn and where are they :idunno:? As for the latter, Bobby Bowden went years and years playing everyone he could get to play him and mostly at the opponets house bc no one would come to FSU during those years. Bowden beat them enough that people had to respect them. One would had to not been born (which may be the case on bgp) or have lived in a cave for years not to have known that. As you said, bc of location (Fla. vs. Idaho) would have had a recruiting advantage. Other than that imo Boise is in that same situation now so who knows where they may be in the future :idunno:.
November 17, 201015 yr Not that our opinions are going to change anythng so here is mine. I am not even going to say that this is how the BCS should read  it is jmo like others have theirs. 1 Boise State 2 Auburn 3 Oregon 4 TCU 5 Stanford 6 LSU 7 Wisconsin 9 Ohio State 10 Oklahoma State 11 Alabama 12 Michigan State/Va Tech Agree 100% with his and your earlier post. What people don't realize is that this Boise team is wayyyyy different than any other mid major going undefeated. They have 21 of 22 starters back from last year, a great coach, and a experienced QB that is a stud. I'm the biggest SEC homer there is, but I'm also a realist. And who is to say that Boise or TCU wouldn't have a chance in a playoff?

Oregon didn't play their A game this week and they almost got beat by a Cal team that isn't good. Boise gets a break because except for VT and an overranked Nevada team they can play their D or F game and win by 28. I think if they played NC St on the road then UNC at home then FSU on the road then Miami at home they'd lose in that stretch. It is just how I feel and I'm not taking anything away from them. Alabama had one of the most unfair schedules I can remember this year playing good teams off their bye a lot. Boise wouldn't go through stretches like that unbeaten and they wouldn't win an 8 team playoff where they had to win 3 big games in 4 weeks.

You are absolutely correct, SSC. These title teams are built upon depth, size, speed, and being able to bring it in consecutive weeks. Boise State is not accustomed to doing this nor do they have that caliber of talent. The best comparison I can draw is UL from their BCS season. The big argument most people had was that they could not week-in and week-out compete at a high level because they did not have the depth of the major programs and the Big East did not have high talent to go against weekly. The toughest stretch UL had in back-to-back weeks was West Virginia at home, followed by a trip to Rutgers. Both were solid teams sure, but we are not talking about world beater competition. UL was not able to close the deal against Rutgers. The grind of playing successive tough opponents wears on teams quickly. I am not taking anything away from Boise State. They are a heck of a football team and a legit player. It is just the reality of the situation and I do not believe Chris Peterson - in a truthful moment - would disagree.

To me Boise has just as much talent as anyone and are just as deep as everyone in the country. Maybe they're players do not have all the measureables that teams in the SEC have but they have proven to be a very fast team, but most of their players are an inch or two shorter than most big schools would like, don't meet weight requirements or simply were overlooked. U of L did not beat the quality of teams on the basis that Boise has done, when the Cards were in their prime. Boise is 2x the program that U of L was IMO.
November 17, 201015 yr U of L did not beat the quality of teams on the basis that Boise has done, when the Cards were in their prime. Boise is 2x the program that U of L was IMO. That is purely subjective. No doubt they have a better "program", but that is not really what I was getting at. Though UL's schedule that season, even in the weak Big East, is stronger than any schedule Boise State has played. I am not downing Boise State for that because they have done about all they can do given their conference affiliation.

But saying they are like U of L or that they couldn't win in a big conference is just as subjective to me. That's what I'm saying. We have nothing to go on in saying that they could or could not do it, but based on their success against good opponents in the past I think it's only fair to give them the benefit of the doubt. Maybe they will play Oregon or Auburn and get their teeth kicked in and the big conference argument will hold some water, but until then I just can't see passing it as a fact. Boise wins at a higher level than U of L did, and I don't think it would be fair to compare them to teams like Hawaii either.

Couldn't you just as easy say that "we have nothing to go on in saying that they could or could not do it, but based on their lack of quality opponents on their past schedules I think it's only fair to err on the side of caution and say it's unlikely."? Bottomline is we aren't going to find out because a 1 loss LSU or a 1 loss Auburn will be ranked ahead of them at season's end either way IMO.
