Nice theory but as Trinity is already experiencing, finding outside state competition is tough to schedule home and home opportunities each year. Thanks to Fayette County and now Jefferson County's boycott, Trinity has 4 open dates for next season. I have full confidence Dennis Lampley will work things out, but what has taken place within this state to cut T & X out of the KHSAA schedule is pathetic.

That is true, I forgot about those years. I think Bozeman was the Coach then. We still need away from Bell Co.

Are there fewer football teams now than when KHSAA went to the 6 class system? I noticed in the new alignment data that there are 222 teams. I thought there was 250 teams back in the 2007 season. With all the consolidations could there be fewer teams?

And then as soon as one of the teams in 5A gets to be really good you could just kick them out and let them play a "national schedule". Remember about 6 or 7 years ago T lost 4 in a row to start the season including games to Seneca and (I think) Manual. Several schools have played X close this season. The "national schedule" notion is, IMHO, a bit out there.

I don't know about SK but I did speak to the AD a few weeks ago about HHS and he told me they said no. I didn't ask why though. It is possible that their open weeks did not coincide with ours. I don't want to ignite a firestorm of a debate here.

Just using those teams as examples of how it could work. Play 5 or so instate teams and 5 or so national powers. You figure the travel wouldn't be horrible with 5 instate teams(thus adding some Louisville teams) and playing 2 or 3 road games with some pretty hefty travel and then play 2 or 3 of those powers at home. By the way, I could care less if they stay in the KHSAA or move to a more competitive schedule, but, imo, the advantages they have over every other Ky team should be reason for them to want to move on up and give them a bigger challenge. Enrollment, biggest metro area in state, no geographic restrictions, money, etc, etc... Would they prefer to beat up the minor league teams struggling financially and with #s, restrictions, facilities, etc or move up to the major leagues? I would think the latter...
