Mayfield didn't play their greatest game, but just too much for the Rockets! Mayfield's line play wore down the Rockets!

Sloppy win for Mayfield who looked rusty at times. The weak district games and last week off didnt seem to work in the Cards favor. Several big drops, the first int of the year and a fumble in the Crittenden endzone stand out. Never the less the Cards secure the district title

I thought both teams played extremely hard. Mayfield's speed was too much for the Rockets and the line controlled the game, but, to Crittendens credit, they played hard from start to finish, made some big plays and hung around throughout. They impressed me and have alot of heart and some good looking players.Mayfield didn't play there best offensively but the RBs ran very hard and with exception of a couple of breakdowns, played very solid D, especially against the run.

[WHO'S NEXT?]

Mayfield became their own worst enemy at times tonight with broken coverage in the secondary setting up the Rockets points, not totally a surprise when a team gives you so many formations-there's bound to be at least some confusion. QB and receivers didn't seem to be on the same page at times tonight either, and this likely led to the QB's 1st INT of the season setting up one of the Rocket's scores. While Mayfield was clearly the superior team here, every time you would look up through 3 quarters the Rockets were hanging around on the scoreboard. Cards played it smart by using most of the 4th quarter to pound the ground game (which was available just about all night... Jackson ~ 200 yards rushing), chew some clock, and punch it in one last time to put the game out of reach. Fumble through the end zone, block in the back on the long punt return and a few dropped passes kept this game closer than it should have been for the 1st 3 quarters.

 

Kudos to the CC ball club for a hard fought game, LHCross should not look past this team or CC will return to Mayfield in a few weeks for a regional title rematch.

Nice win for Mayfield. Gotta say that it seems like Crittenden County fields a really nice ball club just about every year.

Saw a report that said CC had 75 yards rushing and about 200 total to Mayfield 440ish. J Jackson for Mayfield rushed for just over 200. Guhy threw his first pic of the year
