Williamsburg 20 Lynn Camp 0

Featured Replies

Williamsburg wins its third title in four years with this win against the Campers. After the previous weeks huge emotional win against Campbellsville, I wondered what the Jackets had left in the tank. The offense shot itself in the foot a few times and stopped themselves on at least 3 drives on the night. However, with the exception of one big play, the defense kept the Campers in check. The game never really had a flow to it, yet Williamsburg took care of business. This Jacket team was much more physical than Lynn Camp tonight. Root and Perkins continue to fly around making plays. Thomas ran tough but ball security was a problem. Although he had an off night throwing Hamlin ran well and led the offense to 3 scores. Payne put up another 100 plus yard receiving night. It was a bit ugly overall, but sometimes in a championship run you have to win ugly. Most games between these two bitter rivals aren't very pretty anyway. Its a great win Jackets, we're proud of you! Enjoy the off week and then get ready for those Mountain Lions from Pineville!

Congrats W-burg on a big win. And winning the district!

I will tell you this, a game between Williamsburg and Lynn Camp is always worth the price of Admission.

Congrats to the Jackets. LC is still struggling to move the ball and Burg took advantage of the Cats mental mistakes. I would like to add a couple of things. Thank you to the Jacket fans that chanted "Blow That Horn" during the latter part of the game. That was hilarious. That was quick witted and even made some of us on the LC sidelines laugh. Kuddos!

I have no connections to that massive air horn that a group of the LC fans insist on lugging to the games, but would like to apologize on behalf of those LC fans that do understand the writtten rules and unwritten standard for good sportsmanship. This thing is like a fog horn and they would blow it throughout entire plays. (It has not been that long ago that we were upset over Dayton's band playing incessantly during our possessions.) I knew that it would become a situation sooner or later and it finally happened.

Well, anyway, congrats. Maybe we can get everything back on track and make a run against Y'all next year!

Also, IMO, Payne was the deciding factor in this game. Both defenses played tough, but Payne was the difference in the game and why Burg wins.

Best player on the field friday night. Hamblin hurt us some, but Payne got us. Thought both teams played a very physical game.

Always enjoy reading your comments Daddy Cat. There are always a few fans everywhere that think if we do it it's OK but heaven forbid someone do it to us. Payne was the big difference. Wburg loses several seniors but will also have some good players returning so next year will again be a toss up.

Hopefully our Sophmores and Frosh grow physically and their football IQ jumps a few more points. We will have a TON of experience returning and have some good youngsters coming up, too.

I enjoy Daddy Cats comments also, good luck to the Cats the rest of the way. JP Payne has turned into a very good receiver and his safety play was key in this game, he had a big tackle to save a TD.

I had forgot about the tackle. I think he sold me some popcorn at halftime and valet parked my car pre-game. He seemed to do everything friday....

JP has been outstanding this year. Truly had a big game Friday, but if you ask me the difference in the game was how physical Williamsburg's defense has become. Root and Perkins are flat out laying the wood to people, and Thomas on the edge has been very good. JP should make All State if there is any justice, and I would campaign for him to be district player of the year. I would also campaign for Hamlin to be QB of the year, Root to be LB of the year and Perkins lineman of the year, but hey I'm partial...lol

Defensively W'burg has gotten better each week, congrats to the players and the coaches.
