They may be able to until they meet up with Hazard. I don't think they can beat the Bulldogs.

Short answer, no.

 

Pikeville is better than they were last year.

They play with some emotion and they don't quit.

Their offense is light years ahead of last season,

But the defense was horrible when I saw them play against Belfry. They have to make major strides on that side of the ball if they want to have any chance whatsoever of advancing in the playoffs.

They'll probably grab a few wins in the pso season.

They can only compete with there district. When they play the likes of Hazard they will be handed a good ole fashion butt whoopin. If they can keep a coaching staff in tact for a few years they will become a power in 1A again.

If nothing else they seem headed in the right direction but they seem to be a long way away from being back.

It's my understanding that a lot of the kids who several years ago would have gone to the Pikeville schools are now going to the county schools, and this has really hurt the football program at Pikeville. If this is the case I think it will be very difficult if not impossible for Pikeville to return to their former glory.

 

For those who don't know, Pikeville used to have an outstanding football program, fielding teams that could compete against just about anyone in KY.

They will win one and possibly 2 but the second one is not a guarantee.
