I can give you the clinging to the guns and God statement

The other ones are guilt by association and don't really hold water.

You apparently really have no clue about what he did before the senate. A little research goes a long way.

He does support big government. He spent 20 years listening to his pastor. He is friends with Ayers. His Illinois voting record is public. And his job resume shows he has no experience in working in the business world. Maybe one should look at life through something other than rose colored, big government glasses.

His voting record is public, but do you have any idea what a "present" vote meant in Illinois? If not then don't talk about it. Research it and then get back to us on it.

You spent 5 minutes listening to a part of 2 sermons from Reverend Wright and you think you have a grasp of all of his sermons and teachings? Pull up all of his sermons and spend a week or so listening to them and then get back to us on it.

Government is not a business, and should not be run as such. John Y. Brown tried to do it in Kentucky and set us back many years. See what things he did as a community organizer and what it meant for the people of the community and then why they elected him to the Senate. Once you look it up to see what he did get back to us.

Calling Mr. Beck, Calling Mr. Beck - I don't think he is friends with Bill Ayers, but even if he was that means nothing. Obama was a teenager or younger when Ayers was 'politically' active.

Until then you are only spewing 3 year old attack points that are simply stale.

Your views of the responsibility of government and mine are so different it is hard for me to imagine many political issues that we would ever agree on.

Considering BBallfamily taught Social Studies/Government for about 40 years, I think he has a fine idea on what voting present means.

Unless he knows the particulars of the voting mechanisms in Illinois . . . I have taught Social Studies and Government for 19 and was not aware of the voting procedures and how they are used in Illinois.

Quite frankly, I am not surprised that Illinois is set up in such a manner. We all know Illinois is the bastion of political accountability. Basically, voting present allows politicians to escape accountability. I`m not using this to bash the President, just stating my opinion on the matter. I'm sure several Illinois Pols with an R next to their name have done the same. They shouldn't be excused either. Many gutless turds in politics.

It was only 31 years LBBC.

As far as a 'present' vote being the same as a no vote in Illinios, I see it as having no guts to make a decision. You are for or against the bill. If you have reservations about the bill come out and say so. This is a ploy for politicains to avoid having to make decisions that might come back and haunt them laterby having to explain their yes or no vote.

Obama wanted as little as possible to have to explain his socialist beliefs.

I listen to the conservative talk shows, but I had my beliefs formed years ago based on hard work, self-reliance and family. The talk shows only help to reenforce my core beliefs that one should do for theirselves and help their fellow man when there are true needs. These needs are not based on the modern day liberalism belief that big government is the answer to everything.
