Can Prestonsburg/Russell Become a Marquee Rivalry?

Featured Replies

If I didn't have Friday night commitments, this is a game I would definitely like to attend. This has slobber knocker written all over it, oldrambler!!!!!!

:thumb: You know it ! I know that Russell will hit you and I am quite sure that P-burg has still got that same reputation. I remember a couple of games between Raceland and the Blackcats in the 70's and people in the stands could hear the cracking/pops of pads and helmets. Russell vs Pburg games will be the same.

The more I think about it, this could easily become one of the best games each year in Eastern Kentucky. I'm beginning to think this may be a game that a lot of people look forward to.

It's a great matchup. Two very contrasting styles of play. Both teams very well coached. That was the 1st thing I saw when I saw 2A released is that this is a great matchup.

Before I changed careers, I filmed the '93 playoff game between the Blackcats & the Devils at Russell for WOWK 13.

This will be a good rivalry again.

Before you changed careers............don't you mean before you left to avoid rejection from even more local women? j/k

That's why he took his game on the road, now there are TCA women everywhere.

P'Burg has been on a roll the last few years and Russell has been a step off of where they normally are. Anyway this should be a premier game in the state for the next 4 years. Two strong and proud programs going head to head for a district title always make for great games.

Absolutely !!

The Blackcats haven't really had a serious district opponent since Belfry and Sheldon Clark left for 3A a few years ago (with the exception of Shelby Valley last year). If it weren't for Mason Co., I guess the Devils could say something similar.

There's an excellent restaurant not 500 yds. from Blackcat stadium called "Pig in a Poke". They smoke some of the best pulled pork and beef brisket you'll ever taste !! But...you'll need to come EARLY because the place is a madhouse Friday and Saturday evenings.
