Do you not think that those calls were a bit petty? Not in the least? Reds have a victory cigar, haven't smoked in that clubhouse ever, and not in any clubhouse since '95. I think we are being a bit anal here don't you?

I called them idiots, so yes, I defintiely believe it's petty. I also believe a complete outdoor smoking ban is ridiculous. But if the players can celebrate with a victory cigar, I don't see why people who have contributed a lot of their money to the team can't do so as well. And I firmly believe a fan would've been asked to put out the cigar.

I hadn't read UKMF's post when I made this. So maybe I'm wrong and the fans were allowed to smoke. If so, I say good for the ushers in not stopping it.

I’m sure the Reds knew the consequences and that they will gladly pay the $50 / $100 fine or whatever it is. It was a great night and if anybody that was offended by them smoking a good cigar after a big win, I’m sure they are not a true Red’s fan!

For the record, I'm not opposed to smoking bans. Frankly, I don't want to be around that crap when I'm in the restaurant for instance. However, last night wasn't a typical event. I wouldn't have cared if Johnny Popup had a cigar in both ears and both nostrils in celebration.

The way I see it, the Our Redlegs should be allowed to smoke in their clubhouse. I mean come on, its not exactly a place that the public has access to. I see it as if it were a house. If anyone wanted to light up a cigar in their own home, that'd be fine. Who was being bothered by second hand smoke here?

I agree. I actually think we are closer on this than you think. And having heard a little more about it, I maybe should've investigated more into it. Judging from this it seems the callers weren't talking about the ridiculous ban or the double-standard (which I still would say is a petty time to bring it up) but just being total morons:
