Bluegrasspreps Class 2A Rankings - September 27th

Featured Replies

1. Newport Central Catholic at Newport

2. Monroe County at 4A Franklin-Simpson

3. DeSales at 6A Fern Creek

4. Owensboro Catholic - OPEN

5. Murray at Reidland

6. Prestonsburg vs. Matewan, WV

7. Danville - OPEN

8. Christian Academy-Louisville - OPEN

9. Glasgow at 3A Elizabethtown

10. Covington Holy Cross at 1A #2 Louisville Holy Cross

So Washington County is one of only 3 unbeaten teams in 2A and just beat shutout out a 4A Marion County team ranked #8 and still gets no love. Just in case you didn't know...John Hardin didn't shut out Marion and they beat a Collins team that is now ranked #8 in 4A. Just curious as to how that happens...

I am also curious why Washington is getting no love? I feel that this the sleeper team in 2a. Is it that the other top 10 are that good? Is Monroe deserving of their #2 with who they have played so far? Is Danville and Glasgow really deserving of their top 10 ranking? And then what about Owensboro Catholic?????

Washington Co.'s resume easily looks worthy of a top 10 ranking.

I agree...All teams in top 10 have played schools that are very down this year. It seems to be the concesus that everyone but a couple of programs have fallen off grace this year.

Brother, do not take O Cath lightly, their only loss is to Owensboro which is ranked #5 in 5A. As it stands right now, I would say Monroe & O Cath in the West and the 'Breds in the East. The 'Breds are going to be tough for anybody to play in 2A.

I think it might say more about Marion County not being as good as originally thought than it does Washington County.

Washington County's resume prior to the Marion County win included no one with more than two wins.

Covington Holy Cross has two one TD losses to top five teams in the BGP Rankings -- Beechwood and Belfry. Plus a win over a three win 6A team (Conner).

Glasgow's lone loss was to a top five team in Class 4A (AC-S).

I don't see anyone else in the top 10 Washington County should replace other than HC or Glasgow.

Again. let's not get caught up in the 5-0 records. According to Massey, Washington County has the 19th toughest schedule to date in Class 2A out of 33 teams. Holy Cross has the 7th toughest and Glasgow the 9th toughest.

I can say it was close with three teams gunning for two spots in the top 10.

I will say this, If NewCath doesn’t learn some ball security they can be beat by anybody!

I will say this after seeing them. I don't see any team in Class 2A more athletic than Glasgow. They definitely pass the look test !!! To be questioning their ranking is crazy. In my opinion, they should be in the top 5 at least. Their is 3 teams in that Class 2A, District 3 that should be ranked in the Top 10. I personally think that top to bottom, its the best district in 2A

I will say this, If NewCath doesn’t learn some ball security they can be beat by anybody!

The only thing keeping NewCath from being very, very, very good is the ability to shoot themselves in the foot in crucial situations. Dropped snaps cripple promising drives. Missed tackles allow beaten teams back into the game. Good thing for NewCath fans is that the whole team and staff knows this as well. Those errors will be fixed very quickly.

I also think Caldwell Co is a scary team that's also flying under the radar. They've played 3 teams ranked in the BGP rankings, hammering a solid Crittenden team and losing a heartbreaker to a solid 3a Union Co(16-14). The only real hiccup is the Lone Oak game, but, the Flash is capable of doing that to alot of teams. The other 2 wins for the Tigers were against a pretty decent 4a(Hopk Central) and another 4a in Calloway, who's down this year. I'm not sure they'll crack the Top 10, but, if they aren't, they'd have to be pretty close, especially if they keep winning...

While it seems to be a hobby for some on BGP's to regard 2A as "weak", I think it speaks volumes to the contrary a coherent rationale for excluding Washington Co. from its "top 10" exists. If Washington Co. was 1A or 3A, they WOULD be present.

That's all I want to say about that.

I think you are thinking of 3A. 3A is commonly referred to as "weak". But, I think most people regard 2A as a pretty decent class.

Nope...I've spotted a couple of "2A is down" inclusions in posts on the site. LOL...

My fault then, I don't remember them. But, me personally, I think 2A is one the most competitive classes in the state, along with 1A and 4A. Those are my favorite classes to keep track of.
