September 22, 201015 yr Author Did anybody watch the replay of Rose's hit #4192 about a week and a half ago? Two things I noticed from that game. The mound at Riverfront Stadium looked a lot higher than the mounds do now, and when was the last time you saw a pitcher put a jacket on when reaching base?

We never get to see the Reds play into the cold season so we never see it.

September 22, 201015 yr Gene Bennett was a long-time scout for the Reds and will be honored this weekend. He was on the radio today and mentioned that the Reds had worked out a deal for Jeter when he was in high school. Unfortunately, he never said why they drafted Mottolla instead. He did say that he asked why he would be interested in the Reds considering they had one of the best SS in the game in Larkin. Jeter said there are 8 other positions and then showed how he could play CF. Bennett said he looked like Mays tracking fly balls. He also said that after the Reds drafted Larkin out of high school and when he told them he was going to college they told him that if he was still available in 3 years they would take him first. They did.
