All District Teams

So could I, I was just adding fodder for discussion. Now, if there are any less than four O-Lineman for us on the team that would be a crime. Also, McDermott, with 15 sacks could have an argument as well. Considering he was all over Black a few weeks ago.

Trinity kids are going to get their accolades on those County/Region/State teams, and let the other kids get their shot here?

This is the same garbage as the Public/Private split, the 6 football classes. it is "dumbing down" the awards. That would mirror JJ Redick getting First Team All-American, but not making the All-ACC team...

So you are saying the All District awards do not always go to the best players in the district? I agree.

Of course they don't. At the same time, it's hardly the end of the world, especially since, as you point out, some of those snubbed get their rewards at higher levels.

My All District Team would include the following Trinity players: QB, RB, 3 WR, 2 OL, 2 DB, 1 DL.

Then don't call it All District. Call it "The list where each coach get's to pick 4 players to put on a list" List. :thumb:

Often times, Trinity kids that should be all district are not good enough to be all state, etc.

Well, welcome to the real world, where NO team places nearly half of the 22 starters on the All-District team.

Do they not vote for kickers?

The awards are voted on by coaches and as a coach you can't vote for your own player. Most of the coaches kind of vote for a kid based on the game he played against your team while in district play. It is all for the newspaper . They get their name in the paper and a CERTIFICATE saying they were named All-District. Most kids aren't fazed by it anyway. As this thread demonstrates the only ones upset about it are the FANS and/or PARENTS of the teams.

I think Luke "Elvis" McDermott has 16 sacks and counting.

Our kicker and punter should both be on the list. 02Ram54, if there are to be 24 people named first team all district, in our diluted district, I would certainly put 1 QB, 1 RB, 2 WR, 3 OL, 2 DL, 2 DB, 2 kickers from our team, statistically speaking.

I just checked, our "official" stats website says 15.

Oops. I forgot... 2 K's.

Plus an interception.

That is exactly the reason they don't let the coach vote for their own players. Every coach somewhat thinks their kids are great and wouldn't trade them for anyone else.

So now, 13 of 24 slots should go to Trinity? OVER half? If it were Ballard that had 13 of the best 24 starters, they wouldn't get that many, either. That's just life. Like dalen said, coaches vote for the player that played best against their own team. For example, as good as he is, I doubt Manual's staff will vote Vic Anderson as All-District. They'll vote for Beaumont, I imagine... Male might vote for PRP's back.

The best players in the district should be all district. Period.
