Going back to the 60's , the players were not allowed in cars and they rode their bikes everywere. I think Dale still does. Also, an old tradition that they don't do but I always loved was the cheerleaders on Thursday night would go to each players house, sing a cheer, give the player a kiss, and a small box of Wheaties with a poem on it. Love it. Classic.

Those were awesome traditions! Don't forget the burr haircuts.

In another thread someone asked about traditions that teams go through, and mention was made of HHS players wearing their FTJFL jerseys on Thursdays and tapping the Red Dog sign on the way out to the field at game time. Also, it seems that HHS players now shave their heads into mohawks during the week leading up to the state title game. What other current football traditions or routines exist at Highlands (and we're talking about things that are appropriate to be included on a public website)?

 

Player's doors are decorated on Thursday nights while they're at practice. Signs, baloons and treats are left for when the players get home. It gives them a real shot in the arm!

What about the 8:29/11:59 curfew? And the burr haircut made it easy for people to rat out any violators in the 70's!! LOL!

Is a formal curfew still in place during the season?

 

Also, does Highlands still do the thing where the players come up with a set of "rules" to follow for that particular season? There was something about this mentioned in Bill Thomas' HHS football book.
