Leading Rushers

Featured Replies

Who are some of the leading rushers around the state? How many yards do they have though three weeks?

Travis Elliot has 419 yards.

Hunter James has around 450 on 16 carries w 10 total TD's. He's only played 1/2 of 2 games.

When you name players, you should mention the teams they play for.

How do you check on the stats of an individual player? Is there a KHSAA clearinghouse?

I would think Anthony Wales of Central has to be among the leaders.

If there is one thing I hate about HS sports, it's people using stats to say one player is better than another.

With teams playing different schedules and the quality of the teams varying so much in ability, it's hard to say Pete or Ben is the best back in the state unless you start looking at the teams those players are playing against.

Does Ben's coach allow Ben to run the ball no matter the score to pad his stats?

Does Pete have an all D1 O-line in front of him and anyone of the many RB's in the state would do just as good or very better if they had Pete's O-line in front of them?

These are just some of the problems with using just stats to say who is the best.

To say someone is the best, you need to watch a lot of football games all over the Commonwealth.

Chris Cook

Boyle County

406 yards on 43 carries, 5 touchdowns

9.4 yards per carry

Old Guy, I agree with you in principle but with respect to this particular thread, it concerns itself with the "leading rusher" not the "best runner." "Leading rusher" in my mind does not equate to "best " rusher.

You are correct I never said who is the best running back in the state I simply asked who the leading rushers are? I have heard the kid from Hart is over 500 yards. FC has someone around 400 I believe. TCC has a kid at about 430. Just curious whats the lead right now.

Leading rusher is a stat, just like the NFL has a leading rusher every year. It doesn't mean the best rusher, it is what it is, and is a nice accomplishment for who ever achieves it.

When you name players, you should mention the teams they play for.

Elliott plays for Ryle, James for Lawrence County.

Hunter James has around 450 on 16 carries w 10 total TD's. He's only played 1/2 of 2 games.

Actually, 465 on 16 carries with 8 Tds, That's 29yds/rush. Isn't he a large RB?

Anthony Wales of Central High School has 649 Yards on 69 Carries. All 3 games vs 6A schools.
