First off, congrats to Henry on the 44-6 win vs Trimble. Secondly, it does not surprise me that they "outmanned" a 1A Trimble team, no cut against Trimble or nothing, but if Henry wants to play at a championship level, they need to man-up and schedule some big boys and stop bragging on beating up on the small schools..well..actually, Holy Cross handed them a 30 point loss at Henry in Henry's home opener, so I can't really say they've beat up on every small school. ATTENTION HENRY AD/HEAD COACH: STOP "yawning" (as ol#70 would put it) at "outmanning" the 1A small schools, and START "Manning-Up" and putting some tough big boy school competition on your schedule. So rather than boast about "giving the TC raiders what they wanted", see if you can stroll down to a 6A Louisville area school and "give them what they want"..sure,You may take your beatings against big 6A schools IF you EVER schedule them, but if so, that will just get Henry more prepared and ready for the 3A playoffs..best of luck to both Henry and Trimble and the season progresses.

I won't attribute the following comment to all of HC, but I would have been embarrassed if I had been the announcer who, during this game, called out Eminence for having removed HC from their schedule. I understand the county rivalry, but as an up and coming 3A school, I would think that you would want to replace that game with a team that will better prepare you for playoffs. JMO.

 

I really want to cheer for and support the other teams local to my area. However, some posts on here and some comments, such as the one that I mentioned, make it hard to do so.

Teams in the state are in the second year of their schedule. Its hard to predict the status of the program two years out; especially at the high school level.

I also understand about the two year scheduling. The fact of the matter is that TC beat HC back in 2007, during the last two year cycle and was probably a big factor in keeping the matchup for the current cycle. However, conditions change, particularly in small schools and I have no problem changing how things were done in the past to a different setup as the need arises. I just think that it is poor taste for an individual (particularly an announcer, who many will look at as a "speaker" for all of HC) to make remarks like that about Eminence (a 1A team with 80 total boys in their who school) not renewing their contract with HC.

 

You are right about the mix of games on a schedule. You should include games that you feel you can win and some that will challenge you. However, if you want to "move up" it would seem that you need to start increasing the rigor of your schedule. I hope that HC will do both. Despite my feelings about those few (but loud) HC supporters that want to bolster their ego at the expense of the 1A schools, I would have no problem rooting for a 3A state champion in Henry County. :thumb:

For one thing, the only team on our schedule with a smaller roster than us is Trimble. Holy Cross is a top three school in their class, Anderson, South Oldham are both 5a, Owensboro Cath. is in the top ten in 2a our district is pretty srong and it just so happens that our local competition has ben a little down for the past few years. As far as going deeper in the playoffs, for the past two years we were put out by the State Champs and the runner up last year. So you explain to me how much more prepared a different schedule will get us.

I'm with you Killer D. You don't have to explain yourself to anyone. They can look up Henry County's schedule and make their own judgemant. Don't keep it up with the Trimble Co. faithful. That game is history and both teams have another game Friday. Best of luck to both teams.

Trimble plays one of the weakest schedules in the state year in and year out, and they still have no post season success... So not sure why the fans of them are so critical of HC's schedule. As for HC they have a lot of work to do before they will be in the hunt for a title anytime soon....but one thing they should not EVER do is take advice from Trimble County on football.

Oh sorry man not from HC, or do I really know much about anything other then the football team indirectly.....Maybe BGP should post up an academic forum though??? If I was looking into academics I would probably not take advice from Trimble or Henry.
