Another option to live listeners would be those who listen after the game ends. The game is available on covcathiradio out of the archive as soon as the live broadcast concludes. Fans at the game will listen when they get home from Nippert. I will be one of the non-live listeners tomorrow night. I plan on tuning in after I get back home from witnessing Andre Smith continue his journey to Canton.

Tonight’s game is a national broadcast by Fox but will not be on live in Cincinnati, Dayton and Lexington. If you have NFL Network, a replay of the game will be on Saturday at 4 p.m. Because it is a national broadcast, it can not be aired on a local station on tape delay.

 

Also because it is a national broadcast, that means the Bengals Television Network will not do the game. Dan Hoard and Anthony Munoz though will return next Saturday when the Bengals go to Buffalo.

 

Now there are a lot of people who will gripe about why can’t preseason games be aired live even if they’re not sold out. That’s because the NFL has a very simple rule — no sellout, no local TV for a 75-mile radius. For those old enough to remember, there was a time when even if the game was sold out it would not be aired locally. All of that changed in 1973.

 

Last week 13 of the 16 preseason games sold out. The Bengals, Rams and Chargers did not.
