ThinkProgress Publishes Completely Fraudulent Video Labeling Tea Partiers Racists

Featured Replies

I don't see someone thinking he has a black or evil heart as all that horrible, heck just about everyone on the left and some on the right more or less said they felt that way about Cheney, no big deal to me. While I can agree to a point about being married to one of another race not meaning you're not racist, I can't fathom it being a very good marriage if he is.

Black heart/evil heart - we can differ on our opinions of characterization there. I find use of such as a result of being too gullible and listening to others as to who to blame and who to fear. I have a person just like that in my own family. Her church has sessions that she and her husband attend and get "educated" on political topics (I thought that would negate her church's tax-exempt status, but who am I?) She likes to call Obama a socialist, but when asked, had zero clue as to what socialism was.

As to the second point, things seriously, aren't always "black and white." Other 'races' exist, too.

It's been shown on the news on several occasions that there have been some crashers at Tea Party events. This is the sort of thing that's gone on for a long time, both sides do it. OK, if it's speculation then they certainly shouldn't have added it to the video, right? Isn't it completely dishonest to do so if they don't really know?

Again, then they shouldn't have added it to the video, right? The only reason to do so is to falsely represent the Tea Party the way they want people to view it...racist. That's just pathetic. I can agree with you on this, however, I'd hope you'd say/feel the same about ThinkProgress and it's one-sided authors.

Just because something CAN exist/be true, doesn't mean that it does/is. It is pure speculation, but presented as fact. Again, I'll throw out the author's own words - intellectual dishonesty.

I can denounce this video, because I saw it. I haven't spent much time on ThinkProgress, so I can't characterize other authors or stories there.

I am just stating what the author of the article that you posted said. Is he incorrect?

Again, are you saying that the author of the article that you linked is incorrect? If so, how much faith can we put in the rest of the article?

I know "progressives" that act and sound exactly like her, so I understand your meaning very well. However, I've been spot on at times having that feeling about someone (black heart) after I've talked to them for just a few minutes. After "getting to know them" the worst I did was underestimate just how black their heart was, my nephews "wife" comes to mind.

I realize that, I've heard it from Obama himself. I've heard it from Bush himself. Point I was trying to make is I seem to remember something on the news a while back pretty much backing up what this guy said about that particular comment and when it was from. Add to that the fact that TP either knew it wasn't from the Tea Party or only wanted people to think it was or had no clue themselves if it was and you have plain, everyday dishonesty.

I didn't see any evidence in the article of this fact. Did I miss it? Also, did you miss my post #17?

Where's their proof? Isn't that the same question you asked? I want proof as well.

Yes, I did miss it. My answer is he's mistaken but that doesn't make the rest of the article wrong. Surely you can perceive he could be wrong on one point and right on the others rather than the view you're taking of the entire thing being wrong.

When did I take that view?

Kind of like the photos here.. Scroll down and take a look... http://www.zombietime.com/zomblog/?p=621

I'm sorry that some people let their children learn that it was ok to do Bush like that but condemn thousands (over a few idiots) because Obama's skin is pigmented a little darker than mine. What a crock! How can anyone drum up the gall to complain about the tea party?

Then you'll have to fill me in on the parts you agree with. I was under the assumption that you had written the article and author off. Forgive me if I'm not keeping up, all the pre-wedding stuff is catching up to me.

Considering the circumstances, you are forgiven. :p

I disagree with what I will take at face value from the article as a video that was put together by ThinkProgressive that misrepresents the views of the majority of Tea Partiers by using inaccurate video segments. However, I will say that I the author is concerns me in two ways. #1, you have already agreed with, that his own rhetoric is "intellectually dishonest." For one, he labels two activists as NOT being Tea Party members and at least one of them as a "plant," but provides no evidence to support either claim. Pure speculation. I'll certainly agree that those two do not represent the feelings of the majority of Tea Partiers.

#2, and this is our sticking point - do I believe the author, who says that the Tea Party started years after 2006 or do I believe you, that it started in 2007? If I believe you, which is my leaning, then that, too, adds more discredit to this author and causes me to question further what else he might be misrepresenting in the video.

Bottom line. I'm of the current belief that the video is propaganda used to misrepresent the Tea Party, but I have serious reservations about the author's misrepresentation of speculation as fact, or lack of substantiating evidence for his facts.

Rick Santelli is a proud 'Tea Party' member.

"...This grassroots movement of the Tea Party, to me, is as American as it gets. And whether you are left, center, or right, to me it's not about politics. It's about, in this country, we're not afraid to speak up."

As both the main parties have become polarized and cow-tow to their bases - which pushes them to the wings and not the center the people in the center have been abandon. If done correctly the Tea Party will never become a true political party. But will influence the candidates from both parties. This is what is scaring many - both Dem and Repub. This grass roots movement is upsetting the power-base apple cart. So the TP will be under attack (from the Dems) or willful neglect (from the Repubs) in the short run. Both hope that it just 'goes away'.

I Mr. Santelli embodies the core of the TP movement. But this fragile movement may be disrupted by those with other agendas or by false flag attacks. So the TP better watch out and police its ranks.

I think there's a difference. You might not agree with me, and that's fine, but I think the difference is there. People with "Kill Bush" signs are ignorant and disgusting, let me just say that first. There's no excuse for that. And I am not defending them in the least iota. But those beliefs, however misguided, were rooted in facts about what happened in Iraq and Afghanistan. They saw Bush as a war criminal because of the Iraqi invasion that killed tens of thousands of civilians and American troops. Does that make him a war criminal? Of course not. Those signs were lunacy and those people should have been prosecuted.

Now the difference is this- in that video I posted, people are holding up signs that condemn Obama's race, religion and, of all things, where he was born. Do you see the difference? It's one thing to believe that Bush should die because of the number of people he "killed" in the wars he lied to the American public about. It's a completely other thing to protest Obama because you think he's a secret Muslim on a mission to destroy the USA.

Did you over look the signs condemning Bush for being a Christan???
