Why Lebron to Miami doesn't make them favorites to win the title.

Featured Replies

There are a lot of key role players that are signing elsewhere while we all talk about this Lebron hoopla. If Lebron goes to Miami Beasley has to go, and they have very little money for everyone else. Ill take the Lakers over this team anyday of the week. You can't make it through the grueling playoffs with 3 studs and the rest being scrubs. Its not going to all fall into place like Bosh, Wade, and Lebron are hoping it should. And once this team loses a few, out come the egos and internal issues.

I'd be more inclined to agree with you if it weren't for the little matter of the Boston Celtics in 2008. Kinda squashes your "3 studs" theory.

You realize Boston was 24-58 before the Big 3, yes? Miami was 47-35 last year and made the playoffs.

Yes but that big 3 complimented each other very well. And were all probably a lot smarter then these 3 players. The Big 3 this year are all slashers while Bostons big 3 had a low post player, a sharpshooter and a scorer. Their styles won't be able to co-exist in my opinion. And Boston had some key role players on that team. Unlike this Miami team next year. Lastly its not like Miami is adding Bosh and James. They lost a lof of role players and will lose Beasley as well.

I'd have to see Miami's bench before I can truly answer this question. As of now, they'll need some help and they don't have it yet. Add LeBron it's the Superfriends, Chalmers, Beasley and 3 draft picks(one of which who won't play until 2011 at the earliest and he still won't be effective until 2011-12 in D. Butler). Must have a bench.

They would then have Chalmers and thats it.

IMO, if LeBron wants to win, he has only 2 options. Chicago and New Jersey. Either of those two add him and they are the best team in the East. In Miami, it's going to be the Big Three and a bunch of "mop up time" guys, and I just don't think it'll get it done.

I am surprised Chicago got pushed so far in the background with this. Is it just because he doesn't want to follow MJ?

Could be. I heard rumblings somewhere(can't recall where....so much LeBron info is everywhere) that Derrick Rose wasn't that receptive to playing with LeBron and the LeBron camp caught wind of it. How true that is? I don't know, but I know I heard something similar in nature to that.

Didn't Rose say that he'd rather have Joe Johnson than LeBron?

I found a link (though not the one I originally saw)

Not necessarily. The new salary cap added more money and none of the Superfriends have worked out their terms of the contracts so if they really just want to win, they'll take less money(which they will have to do anyways) to help Riley field a team that can win it all. Wade will make the most money.

That's possible. I hadn't heard the specifics of what Rose said or did, I just heard that it was no secret he wasn't a "LeBron recruiter" for the Bulls.

Check the link I added aftwerwards.

I don't know if either player has personally said it, but both Rose & LBJ need the ball in their hands to be successful.

I think if all 3 go to Miami, they'll become the favorite; however, if they don't add a shooter, it'll be tough for them to overcome certain offensive deficiencies. It'll be interesting to watch though. Personally, I hope it happens.
