Wireman
I told my buddy I wish he would have started pouring water on my reel just for the effect!
titletownclown
Last year it was gators; this year, sharks. Next year, it'll probably be a sea monster. btw, where did you catch this shark?
coldweatherfan
Looks like one of the reef shark varieties, or possibly a young thresher. Did you eat him? They are really good.

That's really cool. So where are you fishing at? What kind of rig are you using? What kind of bait?
Zoot Soup
Well, if it wasn't the shark, it was probably the sight of you later in the day in a swimsuit.

Wireman
I hooked a 6 footer this morning - it jumped completely out of the water and simply destroyed a steel leader. He came off... We are in Hilton Head and this morning alone a buddy and myself caught about 25 sharks - most were about 2' long. We are fishing with 25-lb. test line, a large spinning reel and "big fish" pole, a 2-hook steel leader setup and cut bait. We are catching baitfish, then sawing them up and fishing with them... I caught a ray this morning that had a 5' wingspan.

titletownclown
Dang! You have critters strewn all over the beach there. So which marine life is in more peril? The fish in the gulf facing the oil spill or the fish on the Atlantic side facing Wireman's fishing prowess?
Toothpick
Is the shark a large pup shark? I caught one about the same size a couple years back and he looks very similar to mine. A local guy told me mine was a pup shark and that is about as big as they get.

I'm not real sure how big they get but I caught probably 25 of them this week that were 1'-2' long. Here's the big catch from this morning:
