January 19, 201115 yr Author I've never found anything annoying about his voice. Honestly, though, I don't know how much bearing the outright quality of "vocals" has on the music that I listen to, depending on what they do to otherwise supplement the vocals. I know of quite a few people, personally, who love to hate on the vocals from quite a few of my favorite acts: Doug Martsch (Built To Spill), Tom Waits, Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Kristian Matsson (Tallest Man On Earth), Justin Vernon (Bon Iver)... Phoenix just really makes me tap my feet, and they've got an electronic twist that I really dig - I spent a good amount of my later teenage years engrossed in the techo/house/rave scene. To each their own, I suppose. I do have to give credit where it's due -- musically they're outstanding. I just can't handle that guy's voice. Not that his voice is bad, per se, I just find it annoying as hell. It didn't help hearing their big hit all the time on that car commercial a few months back (Cadillac, I think).

January 19, 201115 yr Picked up a couple of crates of LPs at a little local auction house. Some nice old Motown vinyl, several old Windham Hill artists' LPs (technically very pleasing, but not much fire), lots of 70s stuff that I used to listen to, a few original cast albums that I didn't already have (I thought I had almost all of them). Lots to spin.:thumb:
