2013 Rankings

Excellent points qryche. I have seen these kids play for years and would put them in this order- Richardson, Monroe and Sampson. Tons of great players in this age group at each position but I wouldn't put McClendon in the top three. His shot is unorthodox, ball handling a little shakey and his toughness has been questioned in the past.

However, his experience playing with good athletes at SVMS and behind the guys at Holmes should help him on the smaller stage at HC.

Toughness in questioned behind Richardson,Monroe, and Sampson. All I can say on that is you most have a personal dislike for the kid or not know basketball because some of this stuff doesn't make sense. When was the last you watched this kid play to question his toughness or to put him behind any of these guys?

I remember McClendon at SVMS and they were a really good team that was undefeated for the time he was there. But when he left they went from te best team to an average team. I don't understand how you come up with some of these crazy comments but the guys who rank the players must have McClendon that high for a reason. Maybe they went by watching them play.

This was two to three years ago. I would have to agree with Qryche and NKY Bandit here. Christian is a nice role player. Obviously any ranking system is just someone's opinion. These kids are still young and I think alot of the rankings are just name recognition. Once your name is out in middle school or as a freshman it tends to stay "on the board".

Are they continually improving? Physical maturity has a lot to do with this process. I've seen kids that are physically able to dominate at the middle school level based solely on being bigger and stronger and people start talking about what a stud they are going to be on the high school level and it just doesn't happen.

Trust me, there are a lot of kids in this class that are never mentioned that can play with anyone ranked at the moment and may even deserve to be ranked themselves. The problem is we come on here and annoint kids as future top 5 and they have yet to see significant playing time at the varsity level for whatever reason AND some don't even start for their AAU teams!

Good points legend. There are kids that have played a ton of AAU and are still growing who do not play for KY Elite that will surprise some people during their HS years. Kids develop at different levels and grow at different stages so kudos to the kids who hae made a name for themselves at the Middle school level and are on the rosters of these elite teams. In the grand scheme of things there will be several kids in the 2013 class who will play a lot of varsity minutes this season IMO and that is not just in the NKY Region but also around the entire state of KY. This is a loaded class of talent and has been for quite some time. Good luck to all of the kids who are out there working on their game, lifting weights to get stronger and making the grades in the classroom.

Trust me, I know enough about the game to made educated assessments. I have seen these kids (all of the top players in this class) play too many times to not know what I am talking about. Don't take it personally, just my opinion. You are entitled to yours.

I'll stick with Richardson, Monroe and Sampson.

When opinions becomes judgments at which point do we chance hurting a youngman. There is a fine line that seperates an opinion from a judgment a line as adults we should not cross.

Please be considerate when speaking about a youngman's game. Most of your opinions are based on your relationship with these youngmen by knowing there parents, friends, coach's ect. Most of you have never watched these youngmen play againist Top National Talent, in a National tournament so your opinions and rankings are like comparing Apples to Oranges. So why make obviating opionions and post negative comments about a youngmans game. Please realize your opinion becomes a judgment when your post become personal about a youngmans game.

Welcome to the world of message boards Big Blue Mom. Sadly, some post on boards with agendas, others post without any knowledge of the topic just to post. It is what it is. But on this board, if you post within the rules, you are able to express opinions and thoughts. We try to protect our athletes from bashing, but if you're upset over someone expressing that one player is better than another, or that a particular part of his game is lacking, or even better than anothers for that matter, the simple fact is that this board is for expressing opinion. What you may call judgement, others consider opinion. Sometimes thick skin is necessary. With an athlete's promotion, there is always detraction. Nature of the beast.

Spindoc, very eloquently spoken.

Here is the way I look at it. If a kid is good enough to be mentioned on here, he is typically better than the other 98% of the kids we never see in these posts. Any kid mentioned can play the game or we would not know their name! Congratulations to all of the kids that made the Demling list.

Whatever if you don't play at Hoops he don't know you. I know a sophomore that averaged 20 a game in summer league and had a 35 point game against St X and since he don't play at Hoops he don't know him. I watch a lot of games this summer and all the above are good players but there are still kids you don't know but will soon.

Demling does a good job listening to those folks that scream the loudest. There are always low key guys that show up and out hustle/ out play the 'stars' on any given night.

However, I've seen alot of this group and he's got the 'best of the best' on there.
