Here's the research I did. The numbers are all rounded up, and assume that each of these teams would terminate any contracts that they could, meaning not picking up anyone's team option for next year.

 

The cap for next year is at 57.7 million. I think a max deal via Free Agency is just a shade under 18 million with this salary cap.

 

Before empty spots are the roster are added in (and assessed the minimum value, around $400,000 I think for each spot the team is below 12 men):

 

The Clippers have about 23.4 Million dollars to spend.

The Knicks will have around 35-37 million to spend, or two max deals.

The Bulls have roughly 25-26 million to spend, before minimum roster penalties are added in.

The Heat WITH Dwayne Wade have 27 million dollars to spend and could easily be the biggest winner in this year's free agent market. Without DWade coming back they only would have 12 million tied up.

The Heat can sign 2 max contract guys. Same with the Knicks. The Nets, Bulls, and Wizards can easily add 1 max guy. Other teams will be cutting it close but they could make it work if they wanted too. (Kings, Clippers, Timberwolves)

^ I guess technically yes they could do that but only if Wade doesn't opt out which isn't happening.

I would love for the Thunder to get Bosh, as long as they didn't have to give up their current core. Would they be willing to give the Raptors the 21st & 26th pick for him? I would if I were them.

 

I think they'd be smart to get another team involved. Something like this.

 

-Thunder get Bosh.

-Raptors get David Lee.

-The Knicks get the 21st in the draft and a future conditional 1st rounder from Toronto.

 

I think that works for all parties. Thunder get a true post player, the Raptors get great value for Bosh, and the Knicks get value out of Lee's contract and don't eat up that much cap space in the process.

Wade isn't exactly doing back flips over the possibility of playing for Riley again. He basically said that the team had won a championship with him as coach, and that the team had won 15 games with him as coach.

Realistically about the best they could hope for is Amare/Bosh with David Lee I think.

And UKMF, I think Bosh and Amare would be a nasty duo. Their games are so different that I think they could co-exist and become a nasty, nasty combo. Watching those two work the hi-low would be nearly impossible to defend IMO.

The one I'm going to call is DWade to Chicago.

 

I have been saying Wade to the Bulls for the majority of the past year too. The only way I see him staying in Miami is if they bring in Amare or Bosh for him.

Player X in the ESPN Magazine said in his column that no one in the NBA thinks Wade will leave Miami.

 

He also said Bosh and Johnson will have new teams, Amare is 50/50 and absolutely no one has any idea what LeBron is going to do.

You also have to take into account that his soon to be ex wife is living in Chicago and suing his current girlfriend Gabrielle Union. Wade is also pursuing sole custody of his kids so I could see him trying to stay as far away from Chicago as possible right now.
