All liberals . . .

The country is so divided now on so many issues, and neither of the last two Presidents W or BHO has done anything to help. We have swung from one side of the pendulum to the other and neither place is where America wants to be.

In our past history war has been a great uniter, but those days ended with the Vietnam conflict. I think this is the way it is going to be for some time now.

What do you think that a president could do to unite the country? I just feel like both sides have the "it's my way or no way" attitude, so that it doesn't matter what any president does. It's a pessimistic view, I know, and somewhat unlike me, but that's just how I feel.

I am not sure who the last President was that continually tried to use both sides of the aisle instead of their side putting together a policy and then presenting it to the other side.

I guess the last true effort was the No Child Left Behind between Bush and Kennedy.

I would like to see more open efforts like Obama did with the Health Care Debate but done from the beginning and behind closed doors where either side does not feel they have to show off for the cameras.

So much media coverage means too much posturing for the cameras and too little true work for the country being done.

You're exactly right, both sides won't give the other side an inch. Add to that the fact that Obama is very much a divider himself and it's easy to see why no real progress will be made.
I gave an example ... you can't?
Do I really need to? I mean, seriously, you're actually going to sit there and tell me Conservatives don't get ridiculous ideas assigned to them? Come on! It only happens to Liberals?

I have heard the term racist and conservative both used interchangably by liberal talking heads, just off the top of my head.

I've never heard them used interchangeably, as if they're one and the same.

Are their commentators calling elements of the Tea Party movement racists? Sure.

Is the assessment correct? Probably.

I didn't say that. Don't put words in my mouth.

I asked for an example, plain and simple.

Who is doing most of the dividing? Obama, or those who are encamped against him?

I'm not keeping a running tally so, who cares? He's being a divider, that's not what he claimed he'd be.

Obama.

Yeah, it has to be that. No possible way it could be his policies or political views.

I think you have made my point by linking the two yourself. Is is racist to want the Constitution upheld? Is is racist to want illegal immigrants kept out of your country? Talk about a generalization.:ohbrother:
