Pike County Central's New Coach

Featured Replies

I just heard that Mason County's assistant is the new head coach at Pike County Central.

I didn't catch his name though.

Could it be Kelly Carwile? He has done a good job at Webster County and Lyon County in the past.

Yeah, that's it. Kelly Carwile. The name was slipping my mind.

Hard to find someone who knows Xs and Os better than Carwile.

Little history on Coach Carwile please.

Former Allan Hatcher assistant at Graves, then three years as head coach at Webster County (38-44) and two years at Lyon County (32-24). Then two seasons as assistant @ Hoptown then two more at Mason County.

He dont seem to have any better record than the two assistants they had, so why would they bring him up there?:ohbrother:

No doubt, he has been in some great programs and under some great head coaches. How many people get a chance to work with a Hatcher and O'Hearn? Also, some nice players at Hoptown.

I would think he is a great choice for Pike Central.

Noboby works harder and knows the game of basketball than Coach Kelly Carwile. On top of that he is a great person. He will be missed by me on the Mason County bench next season. Congradulations.:ylsuper::ylsuper::ylsuper:

Carwile has a well-deserved reputation as a great assistant coach whose area of expertise is scouting and strategy.

He has done well as a head coach ... at Webster County, he built with a young group and had a legitimate regional contender when they were seniors. His best player tore an ACL in January ... even without him, the Trojans gave eventual regional champion Christian County a tough game in the regional tournament.

At Lyon County, he had little to work with aside from future Western Kentucky guard Ty Rogers, but did well there.

A good hire for Pike Central ... coincidence or not, they had some serious discussions with Allan Hatcher, Carwile's mentor and former boss, last year.

Sumo you are so right. Kelly is an excellent coach, teacher and is superior at scouting teams. In one game last year, Kelly was able to call the plays for an opposing team BEFORE they did b/c the way they set up. In additon to all these skills, Kelly is above all a wonderful man who treats everyone respect.

He will be sorely missed at Mason but hey tradition never graduates and program will move on.

As far as Pike Central look for them to be really cometitive with Shelby Valley in Pike county in a few years.

Best to youKelly.
