Covington Holy Cross 6 Covington Catholic 5

Featured Replies

In the CovCath 19th inning of Baseball for the day, CovCath just quite couldn't pull this one out, in their last at bat of the day. With the base loaded and one out Lankheit hit a fly ball to center field where the Holy Cross CF caught the ball and then threw out Taylor at the plate to end the game and preserve the victory for Covington Holy Cross.

Been far to long of a weekend and a day, to post anything else on this game today.

Congrats to HC.

Who pitched for each?

The only pitchers I know that were available (I think) for CCH were Shumate and Severson.

Did Roenker throw any in this one?

I don't think he's been cleared to throw yet.

Shumate and Severson for CCH and Johnson and Ritter for HC. Congrats to the Indians.

I think HC/CCH is going to be a ballgame when they play their seed game.

Definitely. That's one you mark on the calendar.

BTW a huge tip of Theoldguy hat to CovCath pitchers for this weekends Doc Morris Wooden Bat Tourney:

David Brueggman with a complete game with 0 earned runs.

Michael Hellman with a complete game with 1 earned run given up.

Adam Warning 8 innings with only 0 earned run given up.

Brennan Schlagbaum with 4 innings of 0 earned runs given up.

Haven't done the stats on Shumate or Severson yet!

Finally I would like to thank the Dixie PA announcer for asking for a moment of silence prior to the start of the Holy Cross vs CovCath game for the NDA young lady who died and her friends who were hurt in the car accident Friday. Thank you sir!

Been a long, long weekend of watching some great HS baseball. Thanks to all the men in Blue, the players, the coaches, Mary at the grill, the announcers of the games, the gentlemen with the recorded music at both Dixie/CovCath and the fans of Newport Public, Ryle, Campbell County, Dixie, Cov Holy Cross and CovCath. Thanks to all, it was fun....

Great weekend for this district( 35th I believe). 2 teams in Doc finals and Beechwood wins All A.

Note to HC: You didn't win this game, credit all the extra innings CCH played earlier. Good job HC, but CCH would have won if it wasn't for that...

Good to see HC come up with this big win. As others have said the 35th is going to be great this year. Being the #1 seed will be huge.

That first part was not necessary at all. Way to try to take any credit away from Holy Cross, and basically blame it being a long day for CovCath losing. It was a great baseball game, that Holy Cross won and CovCath lost, and should leave it at that. Congrats to both teams on a great and exciting game.
