Doctor Who

I'm a fan as well. I like David Tenant's Doctor the best, although Matt Smith's is a very close second.

The thing that I'm interested in is to see if Clara continues on as the companion. Have established a little crush on her in the past day or so.

Clara will be back for the next season.

Really enjoyed the Christmas Special and really looking forward to seeing what Peter Capaldi can do with the role. Big fan of some of Capaldi's other work and if anyone watched the Doctor Who spinoff, Torchwood, while that was still going, he did an amazing job in the "Children of Earth" miniseries.

Not a follower but sons ages 17 and 21 are nuts about it. They tried to get their older sister to buy in over the holiday but she wasn't having any of it. I've caught enough through their nonstop conversations to understand a bit about it and have enjoyed a couple episodes.

Love Dr. Who like the 10th and 11th equally ,

Anybody who claims to be a real Whovian needs to find the DVD of the 25th Anniversary special called The Five Doctors. They had 2 of the 4 actors who had played The Doctor (Doctor 4 Tom Baker opted out, but they used footage of an un-aired episode for him and Doctor 1 William Hartnell had died but they found another actor who bore an uncanny resemblance to him to play his part) in a story with Peter Davidson (Doctor 5, the current version at the time). While by today's standards the special effects are bland it was a very good story and fun to watch all of those actors to bring their personality to the same character.

Frankly anyone who claims to be a fan needs to watch some if the classic episodes. The single most iconic doctor of the bunch is from that era. Even the bad stories of his era are made good simply by his presence.

Great news!

Clara's best line in her second episode: Setting: Victorian England. The Doctor and Clara standing at the base of a ladder going into the clouds.

Doctor: After you

Clara: I'm the one wearing a dress. Eyes front soldier.

I agree. Would you like a jelly baby? I don't think you can fully appreciate the show without seeing some of it's history. Watch the first episodes with the Daleks (Doctor 1) or the Cybermen (Doctor 2).

Had no background knowledge of either of these two prior to seeing the 50th anniversary special detailing them. They were also featured in a couple of the episodes that were part of the recent marathon. However, as I was watching them, I couldn't help but wonder if the writers for Star Trek:TNG ever watched Dr. Who. There were several obvious comparisons between the the Daleks/Cybermen and the Borg. One being their ability to "adapt/evolve", making them harder to kill in the future. The other being the desire to assimilate their victims into the collective.

I watched The Daleks and The Aztecs with William Hartnell on PBS as a kid. I watched Tom Baker(4th), Sylvester McCoy(7th) and Colin Baker (6th) serials as a kid in addition to the Hartnell ones.

I like the new series and one of the reasons I wasn't a huge fan of the Tennant era was this ridiculous sexual tension between The Doctor and his companions. That is why I was so fond of Donna Noble because it finally felt like we had moved on from that stuff.

With most of the classic Doctors there is no question that he is an alien, Tennant was too human for me. That said Tennant was awesome too. There has never been a bad choice in my mind for the men who have played The Doctor. I was so happy to see Paul McCann(8th) get to make another appearance as The Doctor in "Night of The Doctor. "

Love the show as a whole and I am so happy that someone like Stephen Moffat is running things. He grew up with the show and really understands what makes it compelling.

Guilty as charged.

I felt the same way about Donna (she also had serious comedy chops in her own right before being cast on the show); it's why I'm a bit confused by your approval of Moffat. Seems like the Doctor is running around kissing anything with a pulse since he took over. I'm hoping that putting a little visible age difference between the Doctor and his companion with the casting of Peter Capaldi will ease some of that up a little bit.

Truth be told, I've been a little disappointed with Stephen Moffat. I was pretty let down by the Christmas special since any Doctor's final episode is a big deal and I went in hoping for a lot. I thought the plotting and the character development in that final adventure for Matt Smith were pretty bad.
