I'd just like to say... This is the best NFL offseason... EVER!!!

The Pittsburgh Steelers traded troubled wide receiver Santonio Holmes to the New York Jets for a fifth-round pick in this year's draft, sources confirmed Sunday night.

ESPN 1050 in New York first reported the story Sunday night. Holmes was contacted late Sunday and told that he was traded to the Jets, sources said.

Holmes was entering his fifth season with the Steelers and has 235 catches for 3,835 yards and 20 touchdowns.

That's a pretty nice upgrade for the Jets. Even with his troubled past.

Talented idiot! Thats all I can say for Holmes. I am glad he is gone, but just wish we could have got more out of him than a 5th round pick.

It's rumored that he failed a drug test and will miss 4 games this year.

Figured the Steelers wouldn't trade him until things just got to be too much and appears he finally crossed that line.

I guess they are thinking addition by subtraction but man the Jets just robbed them big time.

WOW! Just saw this on another site. There's a good chance he's out 4 games. That is a lot of talent for a 4th round pick! He embarassed Pitt off the field much like Ben has.

Huge upgrade for the Jets who need WR's. I really think Pitt might be the #3 team this year in the division from a talent standpoint.

I would have rather them let him finish his contract and leave FA, but Jets got a steal.

I am hearing missed his drug test and I wish it was a 4th rounder. It is a 5th and a late one at that.

Steelers have four 5th round picks, I expect them to trade 2 of them to move up and get another 2 or 3rd round pick to grab a WR.

Not surprised at all. When I was talking in the Big Ben thread I was saying how the Steelers management won't stand for this crap. Also, think Ben is on his last leg with them.

I think this was also to get Ben's attention... I'm sure it did.:scared:

The Pats are LOADED with picks as usual the most in this draft. They will move too I think.

Vincent Jackson is a guy that hasn't been talked about like the other WR's up for grab. Don't be suprised if somebody doesn't nab him up with a big move.

Bengals+Ravens at talent at the wideout spot while Pitt loses a huge piece in their offense.
