Kobe doesn't get a call there?

 

You said he'll start getting all the calls next season, did you not? Well, according to the stats, he gets more calls than anyone else does this season. No, I don't think they would have. Like HT said, either they missed it completely or they had their minds up that they weren't blowing the whistle no matter what transpired. Who it was, or wasn't, had no bearing on the call IMO.

I am obviously aware of the fact that there is great bias in NBA officiating but that was just pathetic, I don't care whose name is on the back of the jersey.

I hate when people say that someone "gets more calls" because he shoots more free throws. Free throws do not tell the entire story & very rarely does an isolated statistic ever tell the whole story.

 

As far as the no call is concerned....nothing surprises me when the men with whistles have money on the game or another vested interest in the outcome.

Call me naive, I think it was a missed call.....albeit a call the road team won't get on the road on most nights in the NBA.

 

As for Durant getting calls....ask Kevin Garnett about that. He just paid $25,000 about a week ago for criticizing the refs and all the calls they gave Durant. In the game in question...Durant shot 15 free throws.....the Celtics shot 17.

1. We all know (or many people believe) refs swallow their whistles at the end of games.

2. In the NBA this seems happens a whole lot, unless someone like LeBron or Kobe or someone of that stature is invovled.

3. Give Durant another season or two and there is no way that's not called. If it's even close guys like DWade get the call, and eventually Durant will too.

I think Kobe would have got the call because he would have sold the foul a lot better than Durant did. That's another thing Durant will learn to do....sell the foul.....whether it's a foul or not. Sell it.

BTW PP, I don't think I've sent my congrats on the Duke Championship. I'd say you've taken enough crap for being Duke fan in KY, so rub it in a little bit:D.

It was a foul but they aren't going to call that right now with the West playoff seeding as it is. Only guys like Kobe, LeBron or DWade are going to get that call IMO.

But if this is your thinking, where do they draw the line? A push? A tackle? Maybe drop kicking someone? A foul that is called in the middle of the game, should be called with 1 second to go. It was an obvious missed call. NO two ways around it.

Now I never said I agreed with it. I just think that it happens. I think games should be called the same way throughout.....Though I wouldn't mind seeing LeBron and the Cavs getting a few calls this post season.

I don't necessarily agree with it, but I think the rationale is that you let the players decide the outcome of the game...

I agree that this was far from being tragic, but it could have major implecations in the playoff seeding. Terrible missed call, I agree the Durant could have sold it better, but it was still an obvious foul.
