You only posted (and still only concentrating) on one part of the whole blurb. Taken out of context it looks bad. Within the context of the whole, it doesn't seem as negative, more like a little dig instead of a blatant insult.

 

There is a difference in stating facts (the facts he presented showing UK does good things i.e. Haiti), and making things up (claiming UK freshmen might not even go to class).

 

I read the entire article and that still stood out to me. It's not like I skimmed it looking for the first negative comment from Forde. I'm not a big anti-Forde guy. I don't really care what he thinks or writes most of the time. But to just make something like that up seems silly to me.

 

And taken in or out of context, it's bull. But you said taken out of context it looks bad, and that within the context of the whole article it doesn't seem as bad. I disagree with that.

So Jim, what you are saying is that UK was so good last weekend that even Forde couldn't spin it bad? Got it.

I am somewhat perplexed as to why this thread was started? I read the article last night, and actually thought about posting it and giving kudos to Forde for showing UK some love. I didn't read one thing that upset me as a life long UK fan. Very interesting as to how many different interpretations there are by the posters on BGP.

The thread was started because when he can, Forde usually takes a shot at UK. Jim is pointing out that Pat can say good things as well.

He has really lost his journalistic integrity. You are supposed to write about what you think yes, but bashing college athletes saying they don't go to class where he has NOTHING to back that up is completely stupid.

To be fair, the overwhelming majority of college players who plan to leave early for the pros quit going to class. Most reasonable observers of the game would assume at least a few of UK's one-and-doners have checked out of class responsibilities. If none of the UK kids are indeed doing this -- which, frankly, it seems unlikely there isn't at least one -- they are to be commended.
