If Searcy is at Hazard can he play? He started in a varsity game for PCC this year so wouldn't that affect eligibility?

He dresses for the football team, and he played in a JV game the other day. So I would assume is he eligible to play..

Jason Bowling is an excellent pitcher with a whole lot of potential to play at the next level.

Timmy Baker of Leslie Co. will be the best catcher in the 14th region IF he continues on the same pace as last year. I saw him catch several games last year and if he chooses baseball over football he can play in college somewhere.

I don't want to say that these guys that you are posting as "the best" aren't. But, let's have the coaches decide this. When you say they are the best, it just puts pressure on a player. What happens if one these kids has a bad season. You are just leaving them open for un-needed critcism. Why not just state that they will be good behind the plate and at bat. Best is just to vague before the season starts. And we are 5 months from the first game.

 

Hey, I've been guilty of stating a player as the best. I no longer will do that. That will be left up to the coaches and/or the media(which never say anything about baseball anyway, and is another topic for another time.) at the end of the year. JMO.

This maybe a little true, but he was an extremly talanted catcher on D I do how ever believe that his bat was a little cold last season. But for the most part he was a very good catcher and base runners did respect him. And that is over half the battle.

Besides Patrick and Haynes Hazard lacked varsity experience last year. The year before he was on a 30 game winner with 8 or 9 seniors. I don't think he saw as many good pitches to hit last year compared to '04, because Hazard's line-up wasn't as strong. Teams could afford to pitch around him.

That is true. Hazard was very unexperienced last season, but I look for Hazard to have a very good season this year. They will be one of the top teams in the region again. With Haynes and Hicks on the mound they will be very tough to beat.

I don't think so. You must not travel with the team very much. There are a few catchers that are worthy of being called a catcher.

Catcher is one of the most demanding positions, in sports. Constant movement, athleticism, mental aspect, fundamentals, peripheral vision and split-second decision making to just play defense.

If Brandon Smith caught every game for KCC , he would be recognized as a top tier catcher in Kentucky, however Brandon is such a versitle player he is asked to play many positions fo the Patriots. GO PATS !!!! :dancingpa
