RTS, I can't defend the words he used. But, seriously...I think of it as I do with any other people I know. Penn isn't known for sugar coating his thoughts when he articulates them. Largely, he doesn't do interviews. I think he'd prefer not to most of the time. I think he's an irascible personality, and I don't think that's any secret. So, what he said was outrageous, but it is classic Penn.

 

What is so surprising is your level of outrage. You've defended people for what I feel are just as derogatory of remarks. You say your not upset, but your level of outrage expressed is indicative of being upset.

 

You, yourself, have said that actors are liberal left-wingers and you won't even support them by seeing their movies. Then why even post this? Your continued instance that he's a bad person in a public forum lends credibility to his comments. Not by agreeing with them; but by finding them so credible that you'd start a discussion and insist on continuing to discuss them.

In part, his frustration and ire was provoked because the press refused to put the spotlight on the what he'd seen in Haiti, preferring to harangue him on his divorce. He has a right to a private life, and he has a right to use his fame to further causes he's associated with. I suppose you could say the press has the right to focus on what they think will sell their stories.

1) Name a time I've defended anything like what he said. No apples to oranges, like what he said.

 

2) I watch lots of movies with wacky left-wingers, if I didn't there'd be no movies for me to watch.

 

3) You can be outraged by a poster thinking women don't belong as a football coach or in charge of the KHSSA, but not a sick comment like this simply because you're a fan.

 

4) No other derogatory remarks wished death by cancer on anyone.

 

5) Instead of me shaking off his ignorant comment, why don't you just condemn the comment? That doesn't mean you have to condemn him, just the pathetic, horrible comment he made.

I never said anything about condemning him, just the comment. No one has to have my view of Penn, I don't care about that, but it shocks me that there are those that won't condemn the comment.

 

Why would you be shocked that I condemn it? Do you find it any different than the opinion I had for those that wore shirts with a very disparaging word for Palin on it? If this were my favorite actor, musician or what have you, I would condemn it. If it were Johnny Depp, one of my favorite actors, saying he wished Obama would die screaming of rectal cancer, I'd start a similar thread condemning what he said.

I don't feel sorry for cold blooded murderers. I have no sympathy for pure evil. This is a very, very weak and poor excuse for an example RM. I thought I said no apples to oranges. Honestly?
