Murray State University - Info Needed

I didn't realize Murray was that close to the lakes. My husband will love to go fishing.

She really perked up on the idea of the trolley.

Is the area between the campus and, for instance, the phamacies bike friendly?

Forgot to ask, what is the Summer O that Rocket mentioned?

Murray recently adopted a bikeway plan. There are no designated routes, but it will be bike safe for proximity to pharmacies and essentially anything she will need.

"Summer O" is short for summer orientation. All incoming freshman are supposed to attend it to get a feel for the campus.

As stated, Walmart, Kroger, several eating places, pharmacies, and anything else needed is really close to campus...the MSU campus is really laid out well considering be landlocked.

The lakes are awesome near Murray and lots of good marina's and cabins!

I currently go to Murray and am an RA in Hester college. So if you have any questions you can PM me or whatever. As Rocket said there are two new dorms richmond and clark. Each room has its own bathroom, as opposed to suite style bathrooms or the community baths of elizabeth and hester. Most rooms are typical dorm rooms, and there are a few of the 4 person suites where each have their own room with a common area, but there are only a couple of those on each floor.

I love it here and am moving off campus in May.

Also if you come down for a tour I work in Hester, which is the dorm the tour comes through. Let me know when you'll be down, I would be happy to show you around murray other than the campus tour they will take you on.

Now that you brought the topic up...please be honest on the partying. She is not one for this and would prefer to steer clear.

Its pretty easy to steer clear of if you chose to do so.

Looks like she is really leaning towards Murray. Thanks for all the information, it really helped answer many of her questions. I understand the scholarship committe is meeting this week....prayers are needed for some offers to come her way. After that we will be planning a road trip to see the campus.

Good luck and keep us posted...my wife and I are both grads...

As are the parents. We had a great time... But be forewarned, try to get into the first Summer O as you get to choose your classes at that time and the earlier you attend Summer O, the better choices of classes/times to choose from!

The first one is set for April 17th. Thanks for the advice, gonna sign her up tomorrow.

Murray State is obviously an awesome school given the fact I chose to grace its halls for 4+ years.:cool: Check out Victor's Sandwich deli. The best Cuban you'll ever eat (I should know. I used to work there).

Yea if you can get to the Early Bird Summer O in April, you'll have first pick at all the classes which is NICE!!! And you won't have to stay the night!

It really is good, as my daughter and her fiancee' eat there every Friday night.

They had some sort of Cuban dinner night about two or three weeks ago and it was outstanding both said!
