March 9, 201016 yr I'm all for bringing back cruel death penalties (the gallows etc.) for Child molestors. It's the worst crime someone can commit and I would have no problem if all recieved the death penalty. Obviously not the 18 year old with a 17 year old, but but the actually creeps. Throw them in cells with the nastiest brawlers in our federal prisons and let them have at it for about a year. As for the Lorena Bobbit treatment it should happen as soon as they are found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. That'll work! :thumb:
March 9, 201016 yr I agree that is someone does this stuff to a 5-8 year old and kills the kid, and there is no doubt that they did it, they need to be dealt with a lot harder.Even if they don't kill the child physically, they often kill (or forever damage) them emotionally. And sometimes the untimely death comes years after the act itself.
March 10, 201016 yr Let the father or mother shoot them in a no doubt case. At least a small piece of real justice could be had.
March 10, 201016 yr As a survivor of child sexual abuse and having foster children who had been abused physically, then, later after they felt safe, letting us know that they had been sexually abused as well, I am going to let you all in on a little secret. Most children who have been abused sexually do not let anyone know. This is due to several reasons....the most common are; thinking it was their fault, being told if they tell, they or their family will die (sometimes an animal is killed in front of the child to prove the point), and being ashamed. Most of the time, the preditor is a family member or a close friend of the family.... I know that this did not really have anything to with the thread, except to maybe back up what Hearsay had to say about sometimes the abuse is made up. This does happen...I have seen it for myself several times. Food for thought....do you all think that the children that are killed are the one's that don't know the perp? Maybe the children that do live are the children who do know the person? Just something to think about. Birdsfan....that is not always true. I did not let anyone know about my abuse until years later. I think and believe that in my case, and some other people that I know, it made us stronger. The past makes your future....I have forgiven my grandfather for it...I was finally able to do this about 20 years later....I think that what he did made me a strong person who does not judge people, who is willing to do whatever I can to help others, it made me a survivor, etc. " What evil means for bad, God turns around for good."

I applaud your openness and willingness to discuss your own very personal situation. Not many people would have that kind of fortitude. I'm sure you're right when you say that a lot of kids don't ever tell, for whatever reason. It's scary to think how many that might be. You're also right on the mark when you say that such a tragic incident or period of incidents can be turned around and made the basis of personal strengths. I guess it just depends on the individual's personality, environment and access to care after the fact.
March 10, 201016 yr I was talking about this with a psychologists the other day and we came to a conclusion that rehabalitation for these folks is USUALLY impossible. Its their sexual preference....Its like being gay and trying to stop being gay...its not gonna happen. This is what turns them on. Just like someone likes women or men of a certain type. Bad parts is that thier desire for this is so strong they break laws and make huge risks....I am very old school in my thinking as a member of a village if you will we are responsible for the health and well being of our children, so I say execute them when they are found guilty.

March 10, 201016 yr As a general rule I do not agree with the death penalty, as there could be a slight chance that the person is innocent, Plus I think death is the easy way out for them, they are not confined for the rest of their lives with no chance of being free, until they die. But, if there is going to be a penalty of death for someone who no doubt killed a child, after confessing in court, then it should be up to the parents of the child on what they want to happen to the killer, death or prison for the remainder of their lives. This is one of the rare cases that I agree that the so called cruel and unusual punishment would be okay, to a point. If the child suffered during the killing, then the killer will suffer, IF the parents of the child wants it.
March 10, 201016 yr I wanted to clear up what cases jericho had in mind, and that was his response, the killings after the assults. I know. I was just trying to say that sometimes the effects can have consequences many years after the fact, in the form of emotional problems and self-destructive behavior.
