I for one do not understand why Ryle sits in a 2/3 zone...of course, the game will always stay close, but to me it shows lack of confidence in your player's to man-up....

 

Maybe to keep Crittendon out of foul trouble?

 

My thought is that was a huge missed layup by Ryle with them down by four points late in the game. Given, one play does not lose the game, but that was BIG.

That was big - and that player knew it, hence she became emotional; perhaps starting the unraveling of her team at the end. (Not to take away from her otherwise very nice game

 

Another big momentum breaking moment was when #35 got a great steal late in the game, but had the possession reversed when the ref got in the way, and he called her out of bounds. (didn't see exactly what happened, but he sure was right smack in the way!) I think she may have gone out rather than plow right into him. . .

The ref is as much a part of the game as the floor, the hoops, the net etc. Unfortunate but he has to be somewhere. If he was out of position then that might be worth discussing but I have no idea where he should have been.

I was suprised, as others here have been, that Ryle seemed to not know the score and/or time remaining. Their last posession they had many opportunities to score, but every shot looked hurried, and then when Boone finally got the rebound, I too did not understand why they did not foul?

Both Ryle coaches were yelling to foul! First shot was a back-door lay-up that was missed, 2nd shot was thrown up with 12 seconds on the clock off of a rebound and the 3rd shot was a wide open 3 off of another rebound that just missed with 5 seconds on the clock. If that shot goes in people are asking why Boone gave up three shots under 15 seconds and lost the game. Ryle battled to the end. Bet they learn from the experience and will be back next year an even stronger team.

Boone scores 32 points and you are saying they were in the wrong "d" for that game. Give me a Break. Moss teammates had 14 and she had 18 sounds like that 2-3 was easy for them all. Can not understand how a HOF

coach who has been building a program for 25 years with four returning starters(2 seniors) and a transfer like Moss can only beat Ryle with a coach who has had the program for 3 years in OT, 1 point and 2 points. Seriously,

and Oliverio is getting ripped for being a "bad" coach. Maybe Nell should be asking herself how Ryle is so close to her in such a short period of time

Not to mention the transfer from Ryle? Ryle has done this with underclassmen

not with experience! Next two years could be interesting! Anyone want to

guess on who the next one to Boone is? Boone needs a guard!

 

Like i was always told when i was a young girl it doesnt matter if you win by a inch or a mile a win is a win. and boone showed it 3 times that ryle cant beat them. and Nell doesnt need to ask why ryle is close to them because ryle is a great team with alot of players who have alot of heart for the game and wont give up they just lacked experience and next year they should be big favorite but dont count boone out next year either.

I wasn't saying the coaches didn't know the situation. The rebound Boone pulled was right in front of the bench where the Ryle coaches were-so I don't doubt that they were yelling to foul, but the kids sure didn't do it. I think you are being a little sensitive here. :confused: I have no skin in the game. I was there as a fan. I agree Ryle battled. I simply felt they rushed a bit at the end, and then didn't foul, that's all.

If you like rivalries, this one should go on a long time. Great stuff for us basketball fans. Both teams have years of great ball ahead of them.

It is High School basketball. If you've never been in a pressure packed situation like that, who knows what you would do? I have no qualms with how the game ended or who made the right decisions. That's all part of the game. You learn and you move on. I've been on both sides, as have many of you, and the emotions, the quick decision making, do I call a time out, or not? Not for me to say. Other than wishing the final score was in Ryle's favor, I have no problem with how the game ended. It was great fun and we'll do it all again next year.:thumb:
