February 17, 201016 yr The BEAST is nationally recognized as the best basketball conference in the land. Although the BEAST has some of the best teams in the country (see: Villanova, Syracuse), I've always wondered how they fare out of conference. My biggest fear was that BEAST teams were simply beating each other & inflating the value of their conference. Take a look at who the Big East has beaten out of conference this season: 154 wins v. 37 losses, which is an 80.6% winning percentage. Outstanding. 126 & 34 against different teams (78.5%). Again, outstanding. Here is a list of the Big East's Wins out of conference: Alabama State Albany American Appalachian State Arkansas Binghamton Boston Brown (Twice) Bryant (Twice) Bucknell (Twice) Butler Cal State Bakersfield Caldwell College (Rutgers played Caldwell College during the conference season?) :idunno: California (@ MSG) Centenary Central Florida (Twice) Citadel Cleveland State Colgate (Three Times) Columbia (Twice) Coppin State Cornell (Twice) Davidson Dayton Delaware Detroit Drexel (Twice) Duke Duquesne (Twice) East Tennessee State EKU Fairleigh Dickinson Florida (@ Tampa) Florida Atlantic Fordham (Twice) George Mason Georgia Grambling State Hampton Hartford Harvard (Twice) Hofstra (Twice) Idaho State Illinios Chicago Iona IUPUI Kennesaw State Kent State (Twice) Lafayette LaSalle Liberty Lipscomb Long Beach State (Twice) Long Island (Twice) Louisiana - Lafayette Loyola LSU Maine (Twice) Marist Marshall Maryland (Twice) Maryland - Eastern Shore Mercer Miami (OH) Michigan Milwaukee Monmouth (Twice) Monmouth Morgan State Mt. I'm not entirely sure what my research means, but Syracuse & Villanova are the only legitimate contenders for a title in the Big East Conference IMO. In my opinion, Louisville has gotten a raw deal. They're better than their record shows, and have been jobbed in 2-3 games this year. The rest of the "upsets" within the BEAST do not show me that its the best conference. It suggests to me three things. 1. College basketball as a whole is better & so is its parity. 2. Playing on the road is tough 3. The "rest" of the Big East (outside of 'Nova, 'Cuse & maybe WVU) are not as good as the media makes them out to be.
February 17, 201016 yr Author I don't know what it means, if anything. Just thought it'd be interesting to look at. It'd be better to view this against a few other conferences. Maybe the Big 10, 12 or SEC. But I'm not THAT bored tonight.
February 17, 201016 yr They (Louisville) had some bad losses. IMO they are one of the best 65 teams in the country, but if the committee doesn't find them worthy they have no one to blame but themselves. Home losses to Charlotte by 22, Western Carolina by 8, best OOC win was a suspension depleted Arkansas. I think they should get in and I want them to get in because I like alot of their players, but they can look in the mirror if they don't. With that said a nice finish with a win over GTown or Syracuse (again) and I wouldn't think they'd be left out.

At least 2 games, which would be HUGE right now.

Bad calls and bad luck happen. Still have to take care of business. And I'm about the least U of L-hating UK fan there is.

They were nursing injuries to 3 of the 4 guards early in the year (when they got thumped by Charolotte and WCU) and their RPI and SOS are going to be very high. If UofL finishes 10-8 in the Big East they are in. I think the Big East is easily the best top to bottom.
