Hats off to the hoops experts from the 9th region! Apparently, yours is the only region in the Bluegrass with any teams that are hot, or else it's the only region with a burning passion for its teams. All other teams and 15 regions should take note of these testimonials, as they might be a sign of things to come at Diddle in March. Time will tell.

 

Over 3000 views on the Boone Ryle thread. I would say we get after one another pretty good here in the 9th.

The top 3 teams in the 8th Region are Simon, Anderson County, and Walton. Simon and Walton are the top 2 in the 32nd, Anderson and Shelby in 30th district, South Oldham and Oldham County in the 29th district, Owen and Gallatin County in the 31st district but with the 31st, everyone has beaten everyone so there is no easy win in that district or the games have been really close.

Who would know the games keep getting cancelled.

 

NCC has only played 1 game this month.

Agreed. The only thing I would add is that I think there are four teams that stand out, instead of three. South Oldham is possibly the most dangerous team in the 8th once the tournament begins. Their length/speed make them a very tough out. However, I think any of the 8 teams there are very capable of winning a game. When is the last time you could say that?!

I agree with you about South, they are very dangerous. Their defense is very good but their shooting is questionable. I think the other 3 have been more consistent throughout the year where as South has been up and down. I agree, any team can get a win in the regional tourney. I can't remember the last time you had these many teams that had a legit chance of beating each other on any given night. The great part about is that most of these teams are young.

I don't think so. One lackluster performance does not overshadow an entire season. I think the girls took the game a little lightly. That combined with not playing in a rael game in over ten days made for some sloppy play. NDA played with alot of emotion and grit. Not giving up even when NCC went up 17-4. They have more talent than you think. With wins over ETown and Lex Catholic.

Sorry, i misunderstood. Hard to tell sarcasm in print sometimes. I still see it as a 4 team race, but anything can happen. NDA is better than most people

think. From what I've heard they have played through some injuries and have had a tough schedule. Conner is showing signs of life. but it will be tough for them to get out of their district. And of course Either NCC or HHS won't make the region thanks to the luck of the draw. LIke i said anything can happen.

Montgomery Co has gotten hot in the 10th, two huge road wins this week!! They knocked off Lexington Catholic and Rowan Co!! Here come the Lady Indians!!!!!

The 8th region tournament should have these "somewhat hot" teams squaring off: Simon Kenton, Walton-Verona, Gallatin Co., Owen Co., Oldham Co., South Oldham, Shelby Co. and Anderson Co. In the event of slight upsets in the first round of district play, these teams could break the ice to make an appearance at Simon Kenton: Carroll Co., Henry Co. and North Oldham.

 

This region has been, and still is, sooooooo wide open that it will come down to this: On these four specific dates, March 1, 2, 5 and 6, which ever of these teams becomes the hottest, the healthiest, and the luckiest team, that team will go to Diddle. As I have said since the summertime, it's WIDE OPEN (still), and there has been no change after two-and-a-half months of competition !!!!! Get your tickets early, boys and girls. It is highly possible that there may not be a single region in the state with more parity than this one, and we should see a very fine 8th region tournament next month.

Ryle is heating up at the right time. Coming off a hard fought overtime loss to Boone County and two snow cancellations, they had back to back blowouts Friday night against Oldham County and today against Lynn-Camp in the Riverside Prep Showcase at Breathitt County. They've got two home games this week to end the regular season against Notre Dame Academy and Campbell County High School. 33rd Disctrict Tournament is at Ryle, as well, this year.

Let's revisit this one now that the "pretenders" have been eliminated from the tourney field. With only the stronger teams remaining, a.k.a. "the contenders," and the region pairings entering into the survivor picture, who is still hot - or gotten hotter - and who stubbed their toe and has possibly cooled off? And let's hear something from all corners of the Bluegrass, so we all have a better understanding of the teams that actually make it to Diddle!
