So has West not gotten any offers at all or will he only consider D1 offers (which don't appear to be forthcoming)? He'd make a nice D2 or D3 QB.

He was hurt, missed time, and in my opinion was not as instrumental as a full time running back. I know, I know...he is a great athlete, but I did not see him as having the kind of year predicted for him.

Fair question. While the injury kept him out of 4 games, what probably hurt him even more (in re him not having the kid of year predicted for him) was Dale's play calling. With the weapons available to Dale (Bardo throwing and running; Fennell and Streeter running), Dale didn't give the ball to Austin as near as much as SOME people predicted.

 

The "love" Austin has attracted is in part due to his athletic ability, in part to his performances of the prior two years, in part to his limited opportunities performances in other games this year, but more, in my opinion, based on his performance in the state game. If you were at the game, you would have seen what Austin could have done in every game (other than the Cincy X game) if Dale had decided to give him the ball 20 times a game. It was a performance. If you didn't attend the game, go to the KHSAA site. There is a link I believe to ihigh, were you can still watch the game on the internet. He put on a show against a very good defense.

 

He also is a very, very good student academically, which plays a large role in being nominated for the That's My Boy Award. You don't get accepted to Harvard, no matter how good of a football player you are, unless you are a very gifted student. He is.
